I read online how-to's, I think one was from the above-mentioned djforums.com

Also as stated above practice makes perfect.
All I needed was learning how to beatmatch and I was on my way.
I picked up a few other items from watching other DJ's spin and the technical items (balancing the tonearm from online guides, etc.. ) online

that dj book is the definitive guide to djing and most major dj's will probably have read it even if they learned what they do from somewhere else its agreat book and definately a must read.

Its a great book to answer some of the technical questions (like needles vs. cartridges etc).

That Brewster guy that wrote that book also wrote a book call Last Night a DJ Saved My Life. Its a history of club DJ's. Not a bad read. A little heavy on the US content - but too not bad.
