Her best vocal performances are those prior to 2002.

Agreed. Her recent work sounds bland and uninspired compared to her older performances. Beachbreeze, Communicate, Raging, etc were so pathetically empty that I conceded she had become a rent-a-vocal like Suissa.
Yet she is still one of my favorite vocalists ever, because of the amazing work she has done in the past, and the unique sound she has.
Mercury & Solace is still my favorite. The full vocal is so powerful and moving for me, I can't help but be overwhelmed to this day.
BT - Sunblind is an oft-overlooked piece that really showcases her range and control. It's probably my second. Venus has a similar impressive range, but lacks some of the punch that Sunblind carries.
Flesh and Unafraid are a bit rougher, maybe because they're really her solo composition at heart, but they give her voice a sharper, moodier tone. That she can go between this and epic gushiness was always amazing to me.
Her work on Reflections was so-so to me. Home is as bad as her other post-2002 rent-outs, but there are other decent cuts, though not as good as her old Anomaly-era work with BT. Her vocals on the title track are beautiful and fun, but not deep; same with Spellbound. Like A Friend takes her talent in a jazzier direction, which I liked. Kaleidoscope is probably the best on the album, and closest to her great old work.
I could go on. Come back to the light JJ!
