That sounds like a pitch fader that needs to be cleaned and recalibrated or replced.

Usually the 2nd 0% point on the 1200 is also caused by incorrect resistance on the POT. It's easily adjusted though.

As for the model, if I were to get MK2s do you think that it would last me from my beginning as a DJ up to actually getting gigs or will I need a better model when going outside the bedroom?

Edit: If I have a choice between the SL-1600, SL-1210 and SL-1200 models, which is better?

where are you in NJ? I am up north and there are a few places that have TTs set-up.

You will not find much of a difference in the feel of a Technics TT. Wether its the mk2, m3d, mk5, m5g...they all feel the same. Its not like sitting on couches before you buy them. If you know what one Tehnics feels like, you know what the yall feel like. Thats what makes them so damn good.

I personally really dislike the MK2's because of the 0 pitch click (thought it can be disabled) I just find it annoying. I'd suggest the M3D since it's the next step up and there's no pitch click.

Going any higher on the Technics line isn't really necessary, there's virtually no difference between the MK5 and M3D, and you'll probably never need the extra pitch range on the M5G, though they do look nice

I am in Essex County. There are a bunch of people from this area on the boards.

There are 2 places you can go for vinyl in NJ, that I know of. I am not saying they are good stores, but they are stores none the less.

Music-
Mondo Music - Rutherford - I still need to actually go in to a physical store once a week, hold the vinyls in my hand, etc, so I go to Mondo. Its a Jersey DJ store - lots of house, tribal, etc. Some big room trance and a decent amount of progressive house. Its definately hit or miss. I have walked out with a lot on some days and nothing at all on others. Dont expect to walk in there after not buying records for a month and walk out with 15 vinyls. Probably wont happen.

Music is Everything - Red Bank - He's trying. Not a bad little store. Prices are good. Selection isnt bad...not great though. Again, its Jersey.

Gear-
Guitar Center in Totowa, and I think there is one on 22 in Union or one of those towns.

Mondo also has some gear, but the prices are high.

Sam Ash - I know there is one in Paramus and I am sure there is one further south.

Where in Essex county? I'm from Millburn, but right now im in college so I'm not physically there. The Guitar Center on 22 that you mentioned in Springfield is usually where I go for my gear.
