--------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm glad you have been honest and expressed your views ABT, but I have got to say this is BY FAR the most absurd thing I have ever read!
| quote: | | 1) I think all kids should not have to feel alienated or "different" from the rest of the kids that are in their class, and not have to ask their parents WHY They have two daddies or two mommies... like someone mentioned before, they will get made fun of and beat up on the schoolyard.... and enough of that B.S. macho "society should learn to get used to it" talk, b/c you know that doesn't apply on the playground. The kid will be mentally and physcially tortured for years, and will turn out to be one of those mental cases like Timothy McVeigh or the Unabomber. |
Life is a learning experience, and as long as they have parents who love them unconditionally in their life then that is all that matters. If they do feel 'different' than it's up to the parents to have a talk with their kids and reassure them that it is 'ok' to be different as long as you are not hurting anyone. Kids are going to be cruel regardless. You can't live your life worrying about what all the narrow-minded people of the world will think or do, and start living your life for you.
The comment about Timothy McVeigh is so incredibly stupid I don't even want to comment on it but........I just want to say that Timothy McVeigh is psychotic and you don't know what goes on in his mind. There are lots of people who are abused in this world and they don't turn out like McVeigh, also there are even more people who never get abused in their life but turn out to be serial killers. Bottom line is I'm tired of people trying to come out with excuses for the way people do things. You don't have to be abused in your life to become a killer. Is it just me that I find people who are narrow-minded/racist/homophobic etc..etc..simply because they have so much hatred in their hearts for no other reason to be the most dangerous and disturbed?
| quote: | | 2) I think every kid NEEDS a motherly-figure and fatherly-figure person in their life.... your mom and your dad BOTH had specific things they teach you, or things that "rub" off on you, and this is necessary in rearing a child. 2 mom's wouldn't be able to show a guy how to work on a car, or play tackle football.. (well, i guess if one of the moms is really butch, lol...), and 2 dad's couldn't show a daughter how to take "care" of herself and what to do when she gets her first period. There are just SOME things that need to be explained or taught by the different sex parents. |
Even more rubbish here These comments are just so sexist even though for the majority of times these are true. It's just wrong to place stereotypical roles for each gender. A women's place doesn't have to be in the home. If she likes football and wants to teach her son/daughter she doesn't need dumbasses like you calling her a butch.
| quote: | | 3) The kids may turn out just like their parents, because is a sub-conscious way, they are taught through everyday life that homosexuality is right..... This statement kind of goes "against" the grain here, but it's what i believe... It would be very difficult for a kid growing up under homosexual parents to (in turn), turn out heterosexual. |
It gets more upsetting to read as I go on. It is your beliefs and I respect that, but what exactly are you basing it on? Were you raised by homosexual parents? then how would you know for certain that it would be "very dificult" to grow up to be heterosexual? I'm sorry but as long as I can remember I "knew" for a fact that I liked girls and there would be absolutey nothing that ANYONE can do or say to influence me otherwise even when I was a kid.
| quote: | | I don't hate homosexuals. But i sure don't love them and i'm not going to join any parades for them. its been socially accepted, same-sex marriage has been legalized in some areas, now they want adoption rights.... Sounds like they want to go to heaven, but don't want to die to get there... |
hmmm, so now they have too many rights? Luckily the adoption clinic don't think the same way as you do or else no gay/lesbian couples would ever be able to adopt.
If I was working for the adoption clinic, the most important thing for me would be to have the kids to be safe and to be with loving parents who love them unconditionally regardless if they are gay.
And what exactly do you mean "sounds like they want to go to heaven but don't want to die to get there..." I don't want to speculate on what you are saying there so I'm not going to comment, although I hope it's not what I'm thinking.
| quote: | | And about the whole "adam & eve" thing, i wouldn't pass that off so easy, harley. Its not a "racist" comment - its the bible. And no, i'm not christian... hell i'm not even religious. I'm agnostic. But, i DO believe in god. (i think). And there is one thing i do know: If homosexuality is right, then they should be able to find a way to "reproduce". Remember? Nature can find ways? |
Someone ALWAYS have to bring the Bible into this.
I do believe that nature intended to have men and women together just for the simple fact that this way they can reproduce. Gays and lesbians cannot reproduce together naturally without artificial aid, so what is your point? So therefore it's wrong and therefor they should not be together even if they love one another but they should be in a relationship where there's no love but they can otherwise reproduce. That's brilliant.
Remember gays and lesbian represent a very small group as a whole, the world population will not cease to exist if gays/lesbians don't produce any babies.
Going back to religion and such. I truly believe that religion is the root to a lot of the evil that is out there today. If you look at history, a lot of the wars and atrocities that happen around the world had a LOT if not everything to do with religion. Church and State should NEVER EVER go together.
| quote: | And as far as telling people they can't dislike gays b/c they are afraid of getting "hit on", you can't yell at people for fearing that. You can't hold that against them. You can't call them narcissistic or full-of themselves... I don't know how homosexuals are where you live, but down here, they are extremely aggressive. It depends on where you live in order for you to shape your opinions about them.
I've been hit on 3 times in the past by them... and not just hit on... i mean REAL bad. One had an obsession with me (an old boss at an old job... guy had pictures of me up in his freaking HOUSE...), one tried to seduce me (get me drunk and take advantage of me... friend of a friend at a party), and one practically stalked me.... and i'm not particularly good looking. It's not just about how you look. Maybe it was my boyish looks? Maybe the fact that i'm a virgin in my ass? I dunno, but it seemed for awhile like i was a magnet for them.
|
You've shaped your opinions on gays in general through the 3 experiences you have with these individuals. I too have a very "boyish look" and I've been hit on by more guys than I can count. Gays and Lesbians are very open about their sexuality on my university simply because in university the majority of people are very accepting. Because of this they are very aggressive. A lot of it is just for plain fun but some people take it to extremes. I just simply tell them I'm straight and a lot of times they would understand.
Let me say this, I've been hit on by guys A LOT MORE than 3 times. From people trying to get me drunk and stalking and everything. When I was 9, me and a lot of neighbourhood kids met the most friendliest teacher we've ever met. He would take us camping every summer and invite us to his house for dinner and everything. At 9, 10 everyone thought he was the coolest person on earth because he was giving us liquor. Luckily the authorities arrested him before he did anything to me. I learned later that he had taken some friends of mine up to a camp and got them drunk and drugged them and then sexually abused them.
I was almost sexually abused by a gay person but that didn't left me with any hatred for gays in general. My problem is with those individuals and not an entire group. I'm sorry Abt that you had people stalking you but believe me I've been through so much worse...I also have to deal with the guilt that some people I know were sexually molested. I don't even want to imagine what they must've went through.
Bottom line is if you had 3 experiences in the past with people hitting on you and some took it way to far, then your problem is not with gays but with those specific individuals.
You would think that me and the friends that were molested would hold a grudge with gays in general, but even to today we have some friends that are gay. And yes, I do "party and celebrate" with them, some of them in parades. I just see it as another party. I would've missed out on some good friends if I'd otherwise feel differently about them.
The way I see it, nobody is telling you to sleep with them. Nobody lives your life except for you and as long as you are not hurting anyone then who are you to be judging who they want to be with?
I'm not saying all this because I want to appear politically correcct. Frankly I could care less, and I'm far from that a lot of times LOL. I just have a problem with people having issues with others simply because of their sex preference/ race / etc etc........
I am raised in a family with 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and we were raised to be racist/homophobic. My mom and dad are the most racist and people I know. If I'd ever bring home a girl that was black they would totally disown me without even a second thought. Now, to me that is just so wrong and very disrespecting to me. But I have to live my life for me and not for anyone else. All my brothers and sisters grew up to be racist and hating gays/lesbian except for me.
That's because I chose to. Hating someone for superficial reasons to me is ludicrous.
ABT you say you don't hate gays and I believe you. The only reason I responded to your post is that I've read some of your other posts before and I know that you aren't just saying things like this just to stir up trouble and evoke a response from the 'politically correct'. A lot of people at TA post a lot of useless shit and like to start trouble. Had another person posted the same views as you I might not have responded because it's so hard here in a community like this to weed out the truth from the garbage. I know that you stood up and were truthful with your beliefs that's why I responded. I know that a lot of the things you said you truly believe in your heart, and to me it's really sad. There's too much negativity in this world and until we can all be accepting of one another than it would be a better world to live in.
