Ah well. I disagree a little here.

My respect is something that has to be earned. Respect, along with trust is most precious commodity on this earth, and to be not given away rather... cheaply.

Courtesy other hand, should be basis of behaviour between people. If everyone show a little courtesy, then the world would be much less stupid. A little courtesy doesn't cost you much, esp. when others give courtesy back.
