Well, I wouldn't say it stinks, but I don't use refills to get synth patches... I "roll my own", so to speak. I pretty much rely on the factory sound banks for all my drum sounds. There's soooo much that can be done with so little in that bank. I pretty much deleted every refill I downloaded because of it.

I clearly understand what you want to do but I don't think that's the best way to learning. As mentioned earlier copying others can take you to a certain level knowledge but no further than that. Of course there's nothing wrong with that way of learning but I think it would give more if you just work hard hard hard and don't concentrate so much on what others are doing

Excuse me, but what is a Refill? I'm not a reason user so I've never come across the term. Is it reasonspeak for a patch?

Think of it as a glorified zip file that contains various files for Reason. Synth patches, rex drum loops, drum samples, etc.
