The G2 is a little too big and bulky for the general purpose camera I originally intended it to be. I have access to the amazing and compact S400; however it's not really mine. I think I'll buy either the new PowerShot SD500 or SD400 coming out at the end of March and the end of April respectably. Don't get me wrong, the G2 has served me well over the years, but it's too big to carry everywhere - and I suppose you never really know when a plane is going to fly into a skyscraper!
Canon's new Rebel XT is pure mega ulta sexy hotness. I'm by no means a professional photographer, but I'd like to learn and enjoy playing around with cameras! So maybe this summer I'll check it out and let the creative juices flow. I already have a Speedlite 420EX flash for my G2 which can easily be used on the Rebel. The only non-transferable thing would be the macro lens which is made exclusively to fit on the Canon G series cameras... Ah well I'll give it to my bro or something.

I'm LOVING the digital rebel...I've recently took many of the tutorials that Canon provides online and also read some additional information and got seriously into the creative zones of the camera. I'm primarily shooting with full manual right now and the pictures are just amazing!!! so much contcol and ability I love it.

Good to hear you like it. I'll be open to a few pointers when I get mine!

My little rebel, does me just fine for now -- next year I will upgrade to the 20D for sure, however the 1D Mark II is the sexiest piece of cam i've ever seen.

very sweet! how much did the Tamron set you back and most importantly hows the quality? I've been looking for a quality wideangle @ F2.8 - I usually don't consider third party lens's

yea, iv'e heard not so good, and good things about Tamron, it seems very hit or miss to me. Considering that the Canon L lens I want is over $1600 .. blah, that's more then the camera itself! The one thing i've already heard from pro photographers is never go stingy on the lens. You can always upgrade the body when new technology comes out, but the lens's last almost forever.
