Just got back, and it was awesome. Here's a quick review...

Dig-Dug
Real nice breaks. Energetic, and stuff.

Liquid Todd
Holy fuck, he killed the place with what I thought was the best set of the night. The first hour was really deep, intense progressive house, and he kept it house through the second hour but the energy picked up so fucking much. His interaction with the crowd was awesome, as well.

Sandra Collins
Note to Sandra: Do not play slow, progressive trance right after an extremely energetic house set. The energy that Todd had built up just went right out the door.
Note to Self: Do not stand in front if I see Sandra again; it's as if every male in the room popped a boner and rushed the stage to gawk over some gross-looking anorexic woman.
So how was it? Meh. She had three songs that I liked, other than that it just lacked energy, and was too GDJB-esque towards the end. She had to have smoked at least eight things of weed, and looked too fucked up. Surprisingly, her mixing was good.

Paul Oakenfold
... doesn't fucking try anymore. Nou, you didn't miss much. His transitions were shit, the tracks weren't well beatmatched nor queued correctly and he tended to do quick fades. He also forgot what an EQ is for a few transitions.

Half the time he just stood there watching the crowd dance. He did his weird "touch my penis!" pose a few times, which in all honesty looks really, really ghey. If he wasn't sitting on the table, he was hidden behind some monitors or occasionally clapping and doing an "I'm Jesus!" pose. He left the booth three times. Once, he came up to the edge of the stage and reached for peoples hands but pulled it away emotionally. The second, he walked up to a lady in a wheel chair right in front and talked to her. The third time really pissed me off...

He powered down a record, and as soon as it was down, he fades in none other than PPfuckingK - Resurrection. He lets it play, and goes off to the side of the stage, sits on his ass, and chats with some guy. He lets the entire track play out to the end of the vinyl. No mixing, no nothing.

For the most part, he didn't spend too much time with his headphones on. I wouldn't see him again if you paid me too (unless, by some freak force of nature, he improves).

Chronus
... kicked the shit out of Oakie! He dropped a ton of classic tracks, and the killer part was what he did right in the middle of his set.

He brings in Three Drives - Greece 2000. What does he do next than fade in Tilt - Invisible (Quadrophonic Instrumental Mix). Yeah, like Tranceport. Halfway through Invisible, who comes out and watches the 80 of us left there dance? Oakie.

Overall, it was worth the $30. The locals kicked the shit out of Sandra and Oakie. I don't think I'd see those two again, but I highly recommend checking out Liquid Todd.

I'm heading to bed now, should have photos up next week when I get back from California.

yea, he did the same thing here in vegas. It was the worst dj set i have ever seen. He is playing here again next week but luckily I will be out of town and will not be tempted to sit through his shit.

Man I don't know what happened to this guy. Drugs, hearing loss, too many 'YES' people? Who knows but I can tell you one thing -- he is done! 100% amateur night for Oakey.

So I was right front and center. (Next to the girl in the wheel chair that is at every massive in Seattle.) You would not believe how much people were worshiping him. It made me sick. And he eats it up. It’s like he forgets that he is there to put on a show.

Anyway I knew going was a bad idea. I knew it and I went. Not again.

Farewell Paul Oakenfold. Thanks for the pre-2000 memories.

Keith

Yeah, that wheelchair lady kicked ass. I couldn't believe how many people started chanting his name after he trainwrecked. It was sad. I was up in front next to her, too, except for during Oakey.

I actually had a bunch of fun . I was kinda disappointed when i heard traffic, a part of me was like WTF is this, but then the bass line came in and I forgot about it haha. I have a lot of footage on my phone, it's really bad quality but still pretty sick. I was the guy up front clapping extra loud and leading chants. I even got some stuff signed, Oakey signed my Resident: two years of Oakenfold at Cream CD insert HAHAHAH!!! I bounced all the way to the back and yelled.

I met so many cool people, the bouncers in the 21+ line were making me laugh so much, it was so funny when a car backfired and everyone ducked down trying to hide. I want to thank everyone I met and got their names; Brandon & Holly, Jackie, The two sisters I met in the all ages line, the security crew, batman and Sarah.

Waiting in line for two hours was fun also haha, I was sitting in front of the door with a friend while people were walking to Safeco. They were staring at us like we were crazy since nothing was going on then all the sudden we heard music pounding and I started cheering. I’ll totally agree that the mixing wasn't all that great and Oakey wasn’t using his phones that much . His Jesus pose was funny and I was laughing when he walked off stage for a lil bit like huh. At least he was there for the duration of his set , laters everyone.

PS: Why couldn’t I have seen Oakey in his prime?

Well shit. Still sorry I didn't go. But man. Oakie... what a poor guy. He's all washed-up. It happens for almost every entertainier, except the truley amazing. Just like shitty rock bands, DJs die too.

Dissapointing to hear.

Oh well. Much better stuff coming our way.

I'm excited.

Later

I got there when Liquid Todd was playing and he was great. Loved his interaction with the crowd. His tracks were energetic and fun. Although I thought they were a little too average. But thats my opinion.

I really liked Sandra's set, I enjoy her taste. I especially liked when she dropped Kosmas Epsilon - Innocent Thoughts, that is a major ethereal tune. But I sensed the crowd wasn't really diggin it.

Oakey dissapointed of course. It's really too bad when the reason you became a trance lover becomes a fraud. He really lost all originality that he ever had. I don't want to be mean to the guy, but I am really let down by him. I LOVED his early stuff. I've seen him 4 times now, 3 at high profile clubs, but the best was the first time when I saw him at a wherehouse rave in 2000. Brillant experience. What dissapointed me about his performance? Well his mixing was bad, and his trackselection was horrible ( anyone notice he played Yilmaz Altanhan - Eighties twice!) but most of all the lack of originality in trackselection. Oh well. I had a good time over all, especially after a few drinks .

I was in somewhat a bad mood after Oakey and so I left pretty soon after his set. Sorry Chronos your a bad ass DJ and I wish I didn't miss it cause it sounds like you were brilliant.

Oh yeah and stop swinging those damn glowsticks in the crowded areas. I got nailed in the head!
You know who you are..
