when i upgraded to 5.0 i had same problem: instrument going out of tune randomly. i tried the plugin in 4.x and it worked fine, so i decided to install fl studio 5.0.1 that did the trick.

So you had FL 5.0, same problem as me, the problem was fixed in 4.x, so u installed 5.0.1? Or did you mean 4.x?

5.0.1 i just meant i tried it in 4.x to see if the problem was the FL version 5.0 which it was.

So it fixed after u reinstalled 5?

Anyway, it seems the problem has mysteriously vanished, it must of been a setting but i can't remember which one. When playing a single note in the piano roll, it still plays the bottom note, then the top note, but the actual note sound never changes, so i'm happy with that.

Ok all is well, with EDIROL Orchestra. Well, i say all, i mean most.

Wonder if anyone could explain this. Say i played three major parts together in the Playlist, Strings, Brass, and Drums. The instruments will not maintain volume, they will cut out as if FL can only play a certain amount of notes at a time. I had to convert each part to .WAV then put it in the playlist. However they sound fine when i play each part individually. Is this a common problem?

Sounds to me you should just try another synth!! LOL
Id like to hear the finished track to see if it was worth it!

I had a problem with Orchestra with Cubase too - id load in my string instrument but every time I listened to what I had done the instrument would keep reverting back to the default one - like a bloody french horn!!

well found the solution to that problem aswell. It was the drums, when i converted them drums to .wav the problem vanished.
