I think the scenes used are VERY cliché so as to add to the drama of the game. However, the scenes from LotR are as cliché.

You're too closed-minded, my friend. Your inexperience in the movie and video game industries does not help reinforce your beliefs but HEY. You can keep telling yourself that you're right. It won't necessarily make you right... but whatever makes you happy.

Update from IGN (I bolded the main ideas):

quote:
Concerning recent speculation, Nintendo representatives have now made it clear that The Legend of Zelda for GameCube won't necessarily ship this October. The recently unveiled Zelda trailer shown at the Game Developers Conference understandably fanned the flames of speculation concerning an early Holiday release. This specific rumor stems from one online retailer's release date for the game, which stated it would ship October 2005. Earlier today, Nintendo reiterated that nothing has been made official yet.

"We haven't announced any potential release dates for the new Legend of Zelda title. Everything published to date is entirely speculation and we hope to announce more about the game at E3 in May."

And there you have it. According to Nintendo's official website, The Legend of Zelda for GameCube is still set to hit retailers by the end of 2005, but it's anyone's guess as to which month. Also, Nintendo has yet to announce the official title or any other details concerning gameplay or story, other than the fact that Link will be older. All anyone knows for sure is that the game looks amazing. And given Nintendo's track record with the series, fans will undoubedtly be in for a classic gaming experience.

the lord of the rings series was invented by jrr tolkein, who created the stories from bed time stories he told his childen/nieces/nephews at family gatherings. the books were written in the mid 20th century (i think the 40s) i'm quite sure zelda wasn't around then... a 'lot' of the fantasy worlds conjured up today have a base in tolkein's lore, but not all. he also invented a language... its the one the elves speak in the movies

Yes but if you think back, these stories of made-up lands go back to the first millenium and even farther back. I'm Moldovian and grew up being told tales that originated from the Slavic countries around the early 13th century. Tolkien's got nothing on that.

Anyways, Shigeru Miyamoto had his own world in mind for the Zelda no Densetsu series. After all, the Japanese were quite seperate from the remainder of the world until late in the 20th century. So please... let's not continue this conversation.
