After a couple weeks of playing on my friends' Tech SLDZ1200, and the numerous visits to GC to play with the CDJ-1000, Numark CDX, CDJ-800, DN-S5000, hands down the best is the CDJ-1000MK2.
It feels more controllable than the others. In vinyl mode, it more than simulates a vinyl. Also, since the platter on the CDJ-1000 is heavier than the CDJ-800, it seems easier to scratch on.
I, at first, wanted decks with spinning platters. I took some of the advice I got here and tried them all. Im a Pioneer man (odd, because my HDTV is a Pioneer and the screen in my car is a Pioneer AVIC-N1).
Speaking of which, I am going with a full Pio setup: 2 CDJ-100MK2s, DJM-707 and a set of HD1000s.
