I've had a good time every single time I've gone to Eternal (from the first time I went, on New Year's Day).

I understand skipping a week for SXSW--SXSW makes Austin go CRAZZEEE.

They could do with more promotion. "They" seem to have realized this--I've seen quite a few flyers for NU-NRG floating around.

Don't pull the plug yet on Eternal! I like Eternal--it seems to attract less of a "meat-market, I'm here to grope" crowd than Sky & more "I'm here for the music" crowd.

We stopped our residency mainly b/c it was not being promoted very well. It seems that we would get 50-100 people throughout the night. The sound system is good. If it was not on 6th, I think it would do a lot better. And it has to be promoted to people who spend money at the bar. There is no marketing stratagy or promtions behind its regular nights. You can't expect a DJ and 20 of his/her friends to keep a place's doors open.

I do appreciate them booking me tho...

What sucks is the fact that Packer and I DO bring a good amount of people from San Antonio to hear us play and we still have to rpove ourselves every week we go up. I feel like I'm Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. We go out and make it known we can get that club going apeshit and then we get treated like unproven wannabes all over again.

We don't get our dance floors spoon fed to us by getting a prime spot, and we still manage to create a stir and get the dance floor packed. Last time Packer and I went on at 1:30 and people were still coming in around 2:30 because we came correct.

I just hope it stays open because there's not many places willing to give us a chance to come out and play, and also because its a really nice spot that's gaining a following.

Anyways, I agree with the inconsistency thing. Whenever I'm downtown, I sometimes walk by Eternal just to find out that they're not playing what's been advertised.

I was down by there on Friday night, going to El Camino. Eternal now has a sign out front that says "Empire--Hip Hop Saturdays"

I'm glad I made it out the times I did to see Packer, Dave, & Matthias.

I don't know if they'll do any better as a hip-hop club. it's a tough location, 6th St crowds are very fickle, & there are 20(?) other places within 2 blocks playing hip-hop.
