The pitch change increments are set at 0.1%

So you can pitch by, lets say +0.8%, and the next step is +0.9%.

And that is not precise enough for long transitions (which you have when you mix Trance).

No, they arent. The sure do look awesome but the pitch slider is very very loose making it hard to get a really precise mix.
The scratch sound it makes is very electronic and fake too, there are some vids floating around that demonstrates this.

But they sure look great...

They aren't all that to be honest. I have played on them and the whilst I don't think they are a bad deck I think it's just too little too late from technics. Pioneer cornered that market I'm afraid. Denon come a close second but I prefer the Pioneers by a mile.

Someone mentioned the Numark thing being able to pitch 6 to 100 percent. Quite a normal feature these days.

Cheers
Nem

Ive tried the technics decks and they are awful. for starters it takes about 30 seconds for it to read the cd you put into it. The platter although it looks good doesnt feel good. The effects on the decks are quite limited and the display pannel was kinda small. Im personally buying the Pioneer Mk2's as i think overall they are the best

Pioneer or Denon. The only way to go with cd decks.

If your planning on playing in a club at some point, I'd say go the Pioneer. Every club I've been into has either CDJ 800's or 1000's. They seem to be the standard much in the way technics is for TT.

Personally, I have two Dennon s5000's though and they rock! They have a lot of features, some which you might not us though, so think about what kind of mixing you want to do.

If its straight track to track mixing, then go the Pioneer. If your buying them for bedroom fun and really want to experiment with scratching, sampling and looping, I could certainly recommend the Dennon over the Pioneer.

I'm still surprised to see how many people dont like the Tech's, I guess its really how its being used. I agree with the comment it sucks for scratching, this is a fact. I also agree that the platter has a really loose feel to it, but I managed to adjust this. And the problem with the pitch slider being too loose only seemed to be an issue on the first few shipments as the one's I recently used dont have this problem. Also as far as the cd startup time I think this may be an issue with the media being used. I recently bought a 1200 to go along with my cdj1000mk2 and the startup time is the same.

Overall for what I use it for I dont mind the 1200 at all but I still prefer the cdj1000. You cant go wrong with the Pioneer.

One thing i dont like about the Denon DN-S5000 is that the platter is sensitive to touch even when you have set it to not spin.
I want it to be just as vinyl when the platter is spinning but when i set it to be static it should not respond to pressure.
