I know e.g. that a PvD spins one time in the UK at a new years eve party for 250 000 UK Pounds and that was the absolute record so far for a DJ! But I also know that he spins e.g. at a famouse rave in Germany for not even 1500 UK pounds!

And I'm sure when the european stars make a USA tour they earn also less then normaly!

Greetings

In Berlin, Paul spins for free sometimes.

As he is the owner of 'The Love From Above' event, he invites 1 DJ as his guest to spin in the middle of his set.

VANDIT Nights @ Casino Berlin are hosted by Paul, and vandit books 1 DJ to play together with him. hehe so Paul don`t have to Pay himself =p

Also, in the Loveparade (Paul has his own Float, he plays for the people, not for the $$$$$.) and in Mayday, is not too much $$, and he plays for the people too.

But when he goes to USA, or other part in the world, his booking cost can go as high as £30,000. A NYE with PvD could go up to this price.

Many Greetings,

f0x

What most people forget when calculating like "It`s 18$ a ticket so you would need 1900 ravers..." is the drinks everyone has. Water can be quite expensive these days...

maybe, but it depends where you're at. for example i promote in the LA area and the club owners down here know what the bar makes and the greedy bastards don't give us a cut of the bar anymore. so all we make literally is what we make at the door. granted we sell stuff like glowsticks and the like but we would rather rent out space to vendors cuz we could make more that way. ya know like how old skool raves had the vendors with mixtapes or pacifiers or whatever. thing is that it's hard to get vendors in the club these days. can't figure out why. it's a rough life these days.

Points out it is Supply and Demand. There is not any ppl like PVD and tiesto except themselves. Also they can ask and get the amount of money that they want. Oakenfold is still the king of money grabbing, i'm told at least 50K USD for a 3 hr set. Also these rates change cause you essentially make an offer to a deejay. Most deejays will tell you, they are willing to get paid less if you let them play longer. Of course fox is right about pvd, it is 35,000 USD per set but it's a business remember.

yeah prices also vary depending on the situation. for example NYE will fetch higher fares than the regular show. also competition makes for higher prices. example is that the dj's management sets a base price such as tiesto will spin in LA on this date. price is $10k. then the companies in LA will all compete for the bid. for example we'll bid 10k and then giant will bid 11k and then spundae will bid 12k and so on and so on. we were supposed to get sasha and digweed but then were outbid by liquified. oh well. would have been cool to have all access with those two though. so if there's a lot of competition in a particular location then the dj will make a nice premium spinning in those areas. that's how it works out here anyways. don't know about other places.

Juricimo remember this, sometimes a club will take a loss on a certain dj to promote the club and get ppl to come at a later date where they can make profit, but you never know. Remember this, the club makes most of it's money selling overpriced drinks and stuff. So i imagine that pvd got his fee or whatever. Clubs make money many other ways than the tickets or cover and stuff. Just thought you would like to know Juricimo. Anyways i don't see Spundae or Giant closing or other clubs, so they must be doing very well. Same with the Guvernment/Koolhaus in toronto.

I can't agree with you more. Some places draw more money. It all depends on the venue, party, promoters, etc. For example, Tiesto will take a smaller cut if he had a good vibe earlier. Tiesto will be at New Orleans next week. I saw him there at the same venue in New Orleans for $15.00 a ticket back in April. I say there was 150-200 people. You do the math. So why in the world would he come back to New Orleans? That was a great party. I had a wonderful time chatting with him. He assured me he would come back and he is. At New York last week, tickets were $40.00 each. Granted Rui Da Silva and a bunch of other DJs were playing, Tiesto got paid more without a doubt. $35k for Paul van Dyk is a little steep for some venues, but sounds about right if it was at a large party with just himself headlining. But to put that into perspective, Sash & Digweed both played at a party in Las Vegas last year for $40k total. Do the math there.
