Woke up about an hour ago, so here's my review before I forget the details
Started off the night at the TA meetup at 8:00PM at Cafe Depot. By the end of the meetup, around 9:30, we were about 15 people so it was nice and intimate, and we got to shoot the shit and laugh at Americans VERY nice meeting milanster, O-Rza, Blinckme, OrangeMek, dj_lemeir, Nitelife and the non-TAs, although of course, all the Arabs showed up about an hour late...except for Sam who managed to be an hour and a half late Nice also seeing Malek running around taking pics all over the place
Got into the Palais by around 10:30, and started off the night with Preach. The room was already packed so early, as opposed to the House room which was EMPTY, so it tells you something about the quality of the set Preach played. We found a little empty area at the back of the room with dancing space, so it was pretty nice, until Tiesto came on. DISASTER. First of all, you couldn't breathe, and second of all, I wasn't impressed at all by anything he played within the first hour. I couldn't take the over-crowdedness anymore, so we decided to go to the House room and check out Morales. Needless to say, he was playing ultra gay house, and his mixing was ATROCIOUS. No flow to the set whatsoever, and very choppy...didn't enjoy his set at all. BUT, at 5:00, Rauhofer comes on, and delivers the BEST set hands down of the entire night. Absolutely phenomenal. Dark proggy House with HUGE bass I was dancing for 3 hours straight right at the opening of the House room, where there was enough room to dance and still great sound quality. I heard people were flocking in droves from Benassi's set, and that he was playing hip hop at one point Oh well, I didn't check him out cause Rauhofer was killingggg. Finally Deep Dish comes on. I had been waiting in anticipation of course the entire night for their set, and to be quite honest, it was average. I've heard much better from them. They played REALLLLY hard house. Definitely much more techno than house for at least half their set, and the fact that I started cramping a little didn't help. The last 75 minutes of their set though was great, and I continued dancing in that same spot till the end. I bumped into Blinks right at the end, and he proceeded to tell me that he couldn't play Risk cause he was scared of losing Ended up leaving when the whole thing was over, got some sleep, and off to smoking some shisha in a while. Might check out that place that you mentioned lemeir on St. Denis
All in all, great rave, although not my best of all time. Better than last year's Bal en Blanc in my opinion, but nothing beats Cream 2004
