Now THAT was an experience!
We paid the extra $30 for VIP tickets which meant no lineup and our own coatcheck. The whole event was run beautifully. My favorite part being the little plastic bag they gave me to put my coatcheck tickets in so they wouldn't get ruined. These guys know what they're doing.
So...off to massage/chillout area between the two rooms. I almost asked someone which room was the Trance room until I realized that, if I couldn't tell, it didn't matter. I COULD tell however and, into the trance room we went. It took us what felt like ten minutes to get to the centre of the crowd. I mean, it was just an endless sea of people. Amazing! Unfortunately, people were doing alot of moving around at this point and you'd get, like, fourty people moving in a line in front of you. Awfully hard to get a vibe going.
I'd never seen Preach before and he was fuckin' outstanding. He's got some serious stage presence and the crowd just loves him. As Malek reported, Tiesto was like, 15 to 30 minutes late at most, but seriously, it would have been a sin to end Preach's set any earlier.
I thought Tiesto was great. I suck at id'ing tracks, so I won't even bother. The crowd had spread out nicely by the 30 min. mark of his set and it was all good after that. I noticed Tiesto yelling at some tech guys cuz one of his turntables was skipping or bouncing or something. He looked seriously pissed. I was just happy to see him have technical difficulties somewhere other than T.O.
So...after two amazing, uplifting, hands-in-the-air sets by Preach and Tiesto, Benny Benassi decided to come out and put a stop to all of it. It was like a fuckin' brick wall came up in the middle of the night. The place certainly didn't clear out as some people reported, but with 5,000 people in the room it would take hours to clear out.
My friends say that Morales turned things right around, but I was back at the hotel by then having had the life force sucked out of me. Thanks for nothing Benny!
