I've been to two funerals so far.

In the first one, it was the father of a good friend of mine. His father had died all of a sudden, and my friend was finally getting close to him (they weren't "best friends" before that)... I had a thread about it. My first thought was quite silly actually - "Why the heck am I the only one wearing black?"

The second funeral was heart-braking. It was, once again, the death of a friend's father. However, his mother was sobbing in despair, yelling some things in Mandarin (I can't imagine how more anxious I would've been if I understood what she said).... the thought I had the most was - "If it's this hard for me, I can't imagine what it feels like for them. Yet, I can't do anything".

However, I believe none of my experiences can be compared to the funeral of my girlfriend's father: They did it in her bedroom when she was 15. She said she couldn't sleep properly for a whole week after that.

I think about the pineapple crisis currently happening Africa. I mean, when you look at their current status as possibly the poorest continent in the world, one has to bring into the fray that this is partially caused by their lacking pineapple resources. Pineapples are a vibrant source of per capita income since they are so versatile. They can be used from everything to eating, or as sex toys. The fact that they are lacking such a pivotal resource can only lead me to conclude that that is why AIDS is so prevalent there.

Oh yeah, and about dead people. I think about dead people too.

Most of the time I'm thinking "How should I be acting/feeling" to be honest.

Even at one of my grandmothers (the grandad on that side I didn't even know when he died I think it was when I was young) when I held a cord (lowered her in). I wasn't very close to her so it was a bit weird.

But if it was my other grandmother or grandad (who I lived with at uni) I'd be pretty cut up I imagine.

One of the funerals I didn't actually goto (have a good but not interesting reason) affected me the most I think, the guy was young and I knew him well, just thinking about him being in the cold hard frozen ground when his parents go past on a christmas day to his grave (i've seen them go past our house which is on the way).

Just depends on how close you are I think.

The funeral for the father was in the bedroom of his daughter?

my great uncle died in December and at his funeral i kept looking at the little timeline of his birth

1912-2004

i just think of the years that people were born in and wonder just how different it was compared to today. It's a little under a century, but still the early 1900s seem so far away.

I wonder if anyone is still alive that was born in 1899 or 1900?

I usually don't go that far but strangely enough I'm in a good mood after a funeral. I mean how down can you be? You're alive while the other poor bloke is pushing up daisies. Got to make the most of the rest of your life and hit some more chicks b4 its your turn to take a dirt nap. No better way to celebrate life then fucking!
