Back in my high school days I was with Rotary Exchange and had my share of run-ins. Hell, I had to come home a few months earlier than originally planned. At one point, they were reading my bank statements to see where I had been. It seriously pissed me off, but there were some good people there and the experience was like no other...

Wish you the best of luck, dude. I really hope you can make it out to Republik or Guv sometime. If and when you do, let me know so I can be sure to meet you

wow, reading your bank statements? that is fucking super insane! How can that be legal?

and i will let you know if i ever get to do some clubbing in toronto

and yeah i have been thinking of to "just go" too, but i would get sent home with 100% certainy. I have also been thinking of applying to a work permit and moving somewhere else (preferably toronto), but its a big step and im not sure how easy it would be to get...

and yes it is completely bullshit

thanks everyone for supporting me, in this tough world

I don't think it was legal, however... I wasn't in a position to complain, I was going out to clubs and stuff when I told them I was elsewhere. Plus the school they placed me in was several grades below me and in a small town where the kids weren't too accepting, so I basically travelled the country by myself instead of going to school...

If you ever need any help if you decide to stay here, let me know

That sucks dude. I was looking forward to meeting you. I'm 19 years old too.

I know what it's like to be in a situation like that. Last year, I went to the National Science Fair. I was 18. I was treated like a 10 year old. "Lights-out" at 10:00, a girl that I was talking to was barred from seeing me because it "wasn't a good idea to talk to people you don't know", I was suggested to wear "more conservative" clothing, and style my hair in a "more conservative way". This was just the tip of the iceberg.

Considering my parents are extremely lenient, and also because I don't take kindly to people trying to flex their authoritative muscles for the wrong reasons, I must have got into at least one confrontation with them per day. Since they wanted to make my life a living hell, I sure made theirs even worse.

I havent talked to my parrents about everything of this (i like to solve my problems myself and not whine to mommy and daddy ), but the things i have talked about, they have been totally shocked... i will talk to them tomorrow tho cause this last 2-3 weeks have been just insane!

i'm sorry to hear about your situation. it's nice to know that there are even people here like urself who are interested in our country and its culture. just unfortunate it turned out this way for you, but i suppose they take all these extra precautions to avoid any liability when they decide to take on temporary custody of someone such as yourself. altho technically speaking when you're 18 here you're legally an adult.

i hope you can get something worked out in time, if not i still wish you all the best. i've also noticed that they way you swear in English has also improved since the time you got here ..

Yes i think that is the main reason, but there is no way that that justifies all the things they do! they dont have to take things to such an extreame! and also as you said, im 18+ which means im legally an adult in both sweden and canada, hence should be responsible for myself. and one would think that there would be a better way to form this so they are not legally responsible, and in that way would provide a better programme for their students!
