Gatorade contains lots of glucose, which is broken down and stored in the muscle as glycogen or broken down into CO2 + H2O via glycolysis. When it is broken down as glycolysis, it uses ATP or in other words energy and that is how we keep going and have more energy in our body. If we didn't have that, then we would eventually fall into fatigue stage. We produce lactic acid and if we have too much of it then we would pass out. Gatorade helps to maintain our blood lactic concentration at a certain pace because we're using a lot of oxygen (ie. when dancing for 8hrs straight) and also breaks down glucose (a form of sugar) into ATP, thus giving us more energy to dance. As far as the recovery is concerned, Gatorade will not help us to recover. It only helps us during oxygen-form activity (ie. running) to keep us going. In order to recover faster, we need our liver to produce more glucose. Basically that is why you don't want to drink alcohol at the guv. Also because alcohol raises your body temperature and you all know what happens then. Anyway, if you want to stay active during the party, keep drinking gatorade, or red bull since that's I think the only energy drink there. As far as recovery, take a lot of vitamin A and C before the party and obviously take protein when you need to recover, that is probably the best way to go. Protein helps you to recover faster. I always have a glass of fresh squeezed OJ and some vitamin A, C and E capsules. Hope some of this info will help you recover faster next time. Other than that, I'm off to make myself a nice protein smoothie. Need to get ready for Ferry spanking tonight!!!
