i want to work somewhere that would benifit my existence, like working in a record store (optimum), or a clothing store, or something like that - a call centre just sucks my soul out, but if its what i have to do, then that works.

what about findin a roomate? good idea? bad idea?

yes minimum wage is around 7 bucks but that doesnt mean u will be working for that amount. if you have any kinds of skills (sales, telemarketing etc) you will atleast get $10/hour and thats pretty low especially downtown call centers pay alot more.

also $800/room..wtf!! maybe for a luxury suite, my friend is renting a one bedroom place around yonge and bloor area with a private kitchen and washroom all inclusive for $500.

you just have to look for good deals!

That's certainly an exception then. I wasn't quoting the price for a room. He asked for a 1 bedroom, semi-decent apartment. If you want a "decent" self-contained one bedroom apartment, you're probably looking at a lot more on average. My 1-bedroom in a highrise in the same area (and by no means is it a "luxury suite" is north of $1,300 / month all-in).

I just did a really quick search on The Star classifides by price, and for the "central" region of Toronto, the cheapest bachelor listed is above $500 and 1-bedrooms tend to kick in around $750+.

If your annual income is going to be over approximately $8,000, they'll start withholding taxes from your cheques.

you should move in w/ roommates. on minimum wage salaray you won't have much money to enjoy yourself! is it possible for yo uto just start school and not work? you won't be making much, it almost makes more sense to dive right into school.

yeah in that case live with a room mate cost you abt 500$/month

i dont know abt space it varies on diffrent places.

but you want to look around with easy subway acess since you will be travelling as well around the city.

i think 7-8$ is the bare minimum, but if your looking for a job, most likely retail is best bet for those type of jobs.

otherwise for a 1 bedrrom your looking specially downtown or uptown toronto from around 650$-899$ a month, 650 being the crappioest, i have seen the places not the greatest.

its not hard to find a roommate, most likely will have to ask around from friends

most people pick up renternews check it out on http://www.rentersnews.ca

Jayx, if you're making $10 an hour you're making $20800/yr (assuming 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year).... after your combined federal and provincial tax you'd be making $18,013 (13.4% tax) so it's really $8.66/hr after the taxman.

Shit ok, if im making 1200(7.5 an hour) a month , and the gov takes 20 percent, im left with 96, minus 500 for rent = about 460. If i move up to 10/hr - ill be far better off, so lets hope i can move up teh chain kwik.

anyways, this might work. ill be very poor, so u guys are gonna have to help me get into teh clubs for free..........hahaha, and i dont drink much so thats not a problem, teh reefa gonna cost me tho.

what areas should i look into, not the ghetto, but i know its not gonna be downtown either.

again, thanks for all the hope, and in about a year ill be posting up asking if anyone knows someone looking for a male roomate

almost forgot:

Fucking Crackheads. (Just for u moral)
