I liked The Village. Or atleast the unexpected twist. I think his movie ideas are pretty original and different from all the typical hollywood bullshit.

If I have to see another commercial for some scary movie with a creepy kid in it I'm gonna scream. They've overdone the creepy kid thing.

Again the issue here isn't one of strict realism. If you take all of his films as a whole you will find that he is exploring a very interesting path. I'll point out an obvious part of the path to illustrate.

Unbreakable:A single Hero is defeated by water
Signs:All Ennemies are defeated by water

i feel sorry for the director.

6th sense was his success and also his curse.

hard act to follow up on for any director.

Despite its flaws, i enjoyed The Village.

The ending was retarded. Why didn't a village leader simply go to collect the medicine??? No of course not, because it makes perfect sense to send a dumb, stupid blind girl, who thinks it's the 1800s, to interact with park rangers via a letter.

thank you -- aside from the 6th sense, which incidentally gets worse after a second viewing, all of shyamalan's films's skew toward the sappy, trite and ridiculous. i can not understand how he's still in business; hopefully, he'll disappear after his next clunker...

I dug this film, however, it was much more predictable then most of his films. I think I called it about half way through.

Great message in the movie though.... Don't let blind people and the mentally retarded play in the woods!

Don't even get me started on signs .

I can only imagine what the alien commander was thinking:

"Hmmm even though our greatest weakness is water, let's invade a planet where 3/4s of it is nothing but water! Furthermore, let's just pray that the humans don't discover this weakness. Because, despite the fact that we're technological geniuses for having mastered space travel, we simply have no defense whatsover against water, and if the humans discover this (unlikely on a planet largely composed of water of course), we'll be forced to flee!"

lol - again - that's exactly what I told my girlfriend after we watched that stinker! i said it's like us invading a planet that's 2/3s sulfuric acid.

My guess is that the aliens were killed by some bacterial mater present in the water as opposed to the water itself. If that is the case it is highly likely that they would have paid no regard to the bacterial agent as water samples are not a common step in planning a territorial invasion. Remember the girl wouldn't drink water because it was contaminated....

The water was contaminated? With what? The girl did drink water, she just liked leaving water all around the house. There was nothing special about the water she left lying around however. Furthermore, it was alluded to that the other earth survivors (down by the lake for example) survived and used water against the aliens to fight them off. Was everyone using "contaminated" water? I may not have very many planetary invasions to go by, but taking water samples (along with air samples) seems to be a pretty common sense thing to do because of a thing called "rain". Oh well, maybe in Signs 2 these hyper-intelligent aliens will discover the advanced technology of waterproofing and come back and kick ass. Of course then the twist at the end will probably be that the humans are actually the aliens or something equally as predictable.
