If the processor or something on the motherboard overheats, then the machine will shut off.

This would also explain why you have to wait a period of time before you can turn it back on...

It might also be the power supply. Get it checked out. A homefix cannot tell you for sure.

Whut do power supplies go for. $$$?

Bc if i go home and see that BOTH fans are working fine, then i can rule out the failsafe of my comp shutting down from overhearting.

If cheap, ill just buy a new power supply and put it in, real easy.

No sense in masting money on labour for that.

If shits still faacked after that, then it needs a trip to the shop, je crois!

Standard ATX should be around 50 bucks, no more.

Even if the fans are working, here are some things you can do to keep the system somewhat cooler:

1) clean the dust out of the inside of the case and off the fans every so often (including power supply fans). dust build-up will cause extra heat, especially if it gets in-between the heatsink fins

2) place the cables so that they don't restrict airflow

3) keep the case itself in a place where it gets enough cool airflow (I had problems when my case was inside the desk, even with the door open)
