using loop for filling up the track is kinda good i think..
wouldn't use it for the "upfront" perc's without editing it... but as i said.. it's nice to have to fill up the track

i even made acouple of loops myself one's to have just to fill up my track's some.... i have lost them now thou

I'm against stacking up unedited loops to build an entire percussion track.

Me too. I grab percussion samples out of loops all the time, but I couldn't see myself stacking layers of premade loops to make a track...

I love experimenting with sound, especially sampling other music.

good fun, and you can start being creative to a certain degree.

Best results I have ever got was altering and layering live drumloops. They are more like tools

I don't belive drum loops are cheating. Simple drum loops with out the kick can be hidden under the the perc and giving it a nice layer to it although i don't use loops that much any more i think they can be used so that they are'nt that noticable but still come very handy.

this topic is getting strikingly similar to the age-old sampling debate.

use what you will, just make sure the end result is original

using loops? cmon, why not then just come back to Ejay

also depends on how you use it, in reason for example, when you use a loop with dr. rex, its a different story, you can practically change the loop beyond recognition and make it a different loop every time, that is not cheating, thats putting effort in your work.

I only use loops on several drums I already programmed by myself. Most of the time I use my own loops which a sampled or created by myself.

It's not cheating to use loops because it gives you a bigger rythm. And programming drums is also a question of gains, panning, EQ, effects... Sometime you can open a loop and use it completely differently of what it was before... I love to use loops in this way...

Most of the time I have 10-15 sounds of drums with 4-6 loops.

+1 why shouldn't we use loops, if they can help getting our productions to another level? I agree, using loops just the way you would use them in ejay isn't your own creativity - but you chose them for the track, as you felt they would fit.
If we were to be completely square about stuff, midi would be cheating aswell. lol

i have always refused to use loops, because i felt that it wasnt my own work, and i always liked to be original.

but now im thinkng maybe i should use them, i see so many producers these days using loops in there tracks, sometimes it pisses me off knowing that most of the track isnt actually produced by them.
