He should have played the bottem 10 tracks of the year.

That sure would have sold albums, and brought him to be the bloated superstar he is now.

Which is what all good DJs are thinking of when they tracklist their compilations.

My mistake. I confused myself there and thought Oakey was a creative, expressive musical figure there, instead of a one man gravy train.

I think some people look at this backwards though. Many people whore tracks that certin DJs do. That is how the tracks get big in the first place...

Why do you think Interstate - I found you is so big. Cause its the best? Or because basically every dj has basically played it?

The tracks on Tranceport gained a whole different level of fame after Oakenfold put them on his cd. Many comp's fail in this catigory, as they are totally forgotten the week after it was released.

Or it could be because it appealed to more people than other tracks. It's true that widely played tracks become more popular, but not every track played by a big-name DJ becomes popular.

Tracks that are forgotten from compilations tend to be bad. All of the tracks on Tranceport were good, but they were the most obvious tracks in the world to put on it, which is why I disagree that it is good track selection. Any bedroom DJ or trance fan could have picked the exact same tracks. Does Oakey deserve credit for mixing togethor the most obvious track list you can think of? I don't think so.

Well if anyone else could've done so, why didn't they? Obviously he deserves some credit.

when a track gets played by 5+ big name djs it most definately does

the most recent examples being

I found you/find/jump the next train/as the rush comes

i agree that the mixing is crap. But does Oakey deserve as much credit as he does in the scene over all. Id say so, even though hes so "over hyped" for the lack of a better word atm.

There still are not many comps with this many good tracks. All thoes tracks have lasted since 1998. And they all seem just as fresh as most new material. There isn't a track on there that I dislike even though him playing 2 mixes of some of the tracks b2b is annoying.

Since I bought it in 2000, and it was my first dj mix cd, which got me into trance and the dj world, I will say this is one of my favorite cds ever. I didn't know any of the tracks, when I heard it, so it was fresh to me, and I can still listen to it.
