A trance-accommodated non-trance song DEFINES trance for you?

Don't worry, I respect the song. I just think it's one of the worst "quality" tracks out there. Not to mention the fact that the vocals don't even fit trance.

Those sound more like pop songs to me, but whatever.

But for me Underworld - Rez or System F - Indigo. Both songs that define trance for me (or what it should be). Repetitive songs that are very immersive.

Not sure about house or techno though, don't know enough about them.

Your favourite song is:

Mike Koglin feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw : Fine Day - so I don't think you can flame anyone.

What is it about the song that makes it your favourite? Is it the deep and thoughtful lyrics? Or the highly imaginative melody and synths?

basically, if you want tracks that define house, look between 1984-1987. if you want tracks that define trance look between 1990-1994. and for techno, 1984-1990.

defining tracks:
trance = resistance d - cosmic love
techno = cybotron - techno city
house = steve "silk" hurley - jack your body

popular tracks:
ask someone else

Music evolves so you can't say that a track from 20 years ago defines house today. A track that defines house can be from any time period.

uh...no. i didn't say what defines house today. i said what defines house, period. and to find what defines house, period, you have to find the tracks that gave house its name, period.

yes house has changed since 1985, but it's still house, and it's still what all house today is built on, therefore it's the definition of house. same with all other genres. going with the earliest is also the easiest way of making sure your "defining" track is defining for all, and not just your personal favorite that you like to call defining because you like it so much. furthermore, it will do no good for this guy if he gets all different kinds of answers from every person and subgenre. so an objective and accurate standard for suggestions should be the original incarnations of each genre.
