I think they changed the icon for the beach ball in Tiger. I'm at work on my PowerBook now so I can't check it out but it looks different now as I recall.

OSX has its problems and annoyances too but they don't even come close to the Windows hell I endured for years.

Yeah. And a dump truck has more horse power than a Porsche 911. But which do you think is faster in the quarter mile? I guess the dump truck if you go by the specs.

I never thought I would say this but it's more about the 'motion in the ocean' then 'size' in the case of PC vs. Mac.

My PowerBook is pretty snappy and has plenty of juice for SSL and Audio Recorder to run at the same time. Never once has it crashed on me, nor have either of those apps.

I dont know where you guys get the idea that windows isnt stable enough?? my pc runs 24/7 - 365 days. I have uptimes for weeks on end till I reboot to allow antivirus updates to work. A windows system is plenty stable enough. you could get an A64,1gb ram, 80gb hdd etc for around £1k. At least you could use it as a high spec gaming system aswell as a portable dvd player, or intergrate it to your hifi and play all your mixes/mp3's etc etc.

bottom line is....

pure multimedia use ie music production/live sets = mac
bit of everything like websurfing, gaming and above = windows

if it was me I know id choose a windows lappy as i would to use it for many other things such as gaming. with a mac I dont have that option.

macs are considered industry standard for production/design.

Yes. It's just as easy to screw up a Mac.

but with a mac you have to delibrately do it. You have to force it to crash. Not to mention spyware and virus concerns with pc. Hmm would i rather run a unix like system that hundreds of very reliable servers run or a dos based system with lots of fluff. i'll take my mac anyday.
