Alright.

Well, at least I am glad I got this forum mostly from "Loving the MDR-V700DJ's" to "Realizing how much they suck for the money"

LOL! PROGRESS!!

P.S. Why doesn't anyone use the full name of these headphones? "IXOS Ministry of Sound DJ1001" "Sony MDR-V6" "Sony MDR-V700DJ"

i for one have heard the Sony MDR-V6... and damn... he's right, they are great, haven't heard them at high levels but so far so good

great bass response, and great high end... teh radio station stocks em and i had the opportunity to use em doing hockey play by play... i'm now thinking about scamming myself out a pair....

however, they don't have the 'DJ' headphone features, like the 90 degree sideways swivel.. i would still recommend getting a pair... and for using them for 3 hours straight doing hockey play by play commentating... they are pretty comfortable as well...

these headphones get my stamp of approval

Yea, they swivel up vertically though, which mostly makes up for it; they just don't have the side swivel....

And there has been a push at www.headwize.com and www.head-fi.org to figure out a way to modify them to give them that side swivel, LOL! It's, like, the ONLY feature they don't got. But, hell, I've mucked around with the things, they should be fine for one eared monitoring, right?

LOL!!!!!! It was a BIG mistake for me to listen to a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ headphones after MANY years of owning the MDR-V6s! The V700DJs have peaky mid-bass response with little (if any) real deep bass extension (compared to my V6s), uneven mids, harsh upper mids and lower treble, and almost NO top end to speak of!

I'd say that the MDR-VCRAPDJ series headphones are worth no more than $40 to $50 - but they cost at least twice as much even at discount!!

that's the only thing they need... and prolly to be more asthetiaclly pleasing

i like to have them around my neck andd just crank my head to the side to take a listen, that's why most dj headphones have the sideways swivel as well
although if you have a pair that have a headband with some give, it should do the same thing pretty much

Well, there's a mod to make em look better, LOL!

Check this out!

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showt...=&threadid=2342

Of course, you can stretch them to be the tightness you want, to your own preferences for one eared monitoring and stuff...

*pause*

Why are you giving a baby a set of honky, lifeless set of Sony MDR-CD160's!! I had one of those once... Lifeless, and, geeze, with a baby's extra-sensitive hearing, the minute you play some MUSIC through those suckas, he isn't gonna be happy, LOL!

(mighta been the MDR-CD60's, though....can't tell....)

Hmm ok, you win. The original name of that pic was MDR-CD60.jpg. I found this pic a long time ago, so no worries.

Uh, MDR-CD160 and MDR-CD60 = Equally Sucky; we got the same worries for BOTH of them... PRAY that no one actually plays music after that picture is taken, we would have to call Social Services...
