Ahh I didn't realize you were putting that much music on each CD. I figured you'd have at the most 2-3 wav files per CD. I guess you have enough music then.

let me re-question again. my point for asking the question was - as a audience, do you see what the dj has brought or LISTEN TO WHAT THE DJ WILL BE PLAYING ?

even if i take 100 records it is 100 x 5 minute per track = 500 minutes or only 8 hours of music.

mine if lighter and more hours worth of music. i know what i will play and the theme for the night is trance and trance music is what i am taking. i might take 40 cdr with me but the point was asking how would the audience feel. i have played a 2 hour gig with only 4 cdr and the night was great even though i took 100 records that stayed unplayed.

10 cdr @ 80 minutes = 800 minutes. divide that by 60 its over 13 hours of music. all are from my vinyls.

30 records. average song length 5 minutes. 30 x 5 = 150 or 2 1/2 hour of more music.

total is 15 1/2 hour of music.

i think it is more than enough for a 4 hour set. i can take my 4 udg or more. but am i playing music or showing my record collection. that is the point.

when i play closer, i can take 2 bags. but this is a far gig ! and i am alone. no assistance. no friends.

Well, if you are going to get the arse about it, then go store your records up your ass for all I care.

your original question was:

do you think a dj showing up with 30 records and 10 cdr for a 4 hour set is inappropriate ?

Several people have answered your question and you dont seem to like/listen to their answers.

The question about whether "as a audience, do you see what the dj has brought or LISTEN TO WHAT THE DJ WILL BE PLAYING ?" answers itself.

Carrying them in doesnt come into it- I have (and every other dj has) had to carry several (metal boxes) up flights of stairs, across roads to carparks and all sorts of other shit- its called PART OF THE FUCKING JOB. You seem to have found a way to minimise this for yourself, so good- go with it and enjoy yourself.

You have answered your own question with regards to how many cds you intend to take- you seem perfectly happy with it, and if taking 2 CDRs and mixing one to the other the entire night suits you fine, then go nuts.
