My enjoyment for trance comes and goes pretty randomly, I've probably been listening for about 5 years too, I guess it started right before Out There and Back came out.
I dont think it is a proven fact that everybody grows bored of trance after a few years. There is a bunch of diverse and obscure stuff that keeps me entertained that isn't too far away from being trance that I usualy pull out when I get bored.
I find that I enjoy teh trance for alot of the same reasons people say they dont like it, that 4/4 is great fun, the repetetiveness of it, its good stuff I think, but most kids say it bores them. I dunno, its a very interesting situation to think about. That being said, I always try and maintain a diverse collection of stuff to keep things interesting, trance songs still dominate my collection though, but alot of the realy predictable stuff I don't really listen to any more. Not so much because it is bad, I'm sure if I didn't hear similar tunes in like 2000/2001 I would find them very entertaining.
I think it is a matter of priorities that makes kids decide they dont like it. I don't care so much about drums and bass roaring, so the fact that all the trance tunes have the same beat and bassline doesn't really bother me, but I go to other genres and get bored because they dont have synthplay that is interesting to me.
I find now that the trance scene is really filling up with alot of fake phony lame people, it is kinda bothering me. Alot of really little kids getting way too obnoxiously fucked up, not many of them seem to really care about the music and just come because they think it makes them look cool, at least that is what looks like is happening here. Anyway, its all about who you surrund yourself with, I a havig trouble finding good trance kids, I only know enough to fill up a small house party, so I find that I only enjoy trance when those little parties come around, at least these days.
