No i don't really.

I find Orbital's mostly breaksy beeps'n'bleeps to be completely different from Underworld's sound. Orbital guys sample A LOT of various things and have used full vocals only in a few tunes while Underworld aren't as heavy on the sampling and emphasize more on the vocal.

Hehe.. basicly what System-J said.

Hmm. Their first two albums only have one sample in apiece, at least mentioned in the sleeve. Or do you mean their use of movie dialogue and environmental sounds?

Just curious, because I've always thought of Orbital as one of the less sample-prone artists.

I mean samples, as sampled from somewhere.. sounds from everyday life, TV, traffic,....

They just mention the most recognizable samples in the sleeves but they do have permissions for everything they use tho (if needed).. besides the TV and movies, they sample random sounds and voices from about everything in over half of their tracks, you just won't know it if you don't know what to listen and compare to. I once read a long interview with Paul Hartnoll where he mentioned how much "hidden" stuff is to be found in their works. Sound- and melodywise they don't rely on samples that much, but to spice up the tracks, they add some rather interesting samples here and there. The first 2 albums include something closer to 50 samples or more; traffic sounds, beeps and bleeps etc. etc. They are just mostly used so subtly it's impossible to notice them.

Interesting. I thought you meant samples of other artists.

Well that goes in there too as it is sampled from somewhere.
