Hardly what I call being on the cutting edge of skills and effects.

This is just a quick stab with the fader nothing more. It would be ironic if this is what the original poster was refering to as people (myself included) have gone and given some quite involved answers describing various techniques. All of which I have to say kick this one in the nuts in terms skill and overall effect.

The effect in the sample isn't a scratch though. There is no movement of the platter.

PVD uses final scratch and modifies all his tracks before playing them. Maybe its a sample that he puts into the song before mixing live.
