People already commented on kick. Nough' said.

I like your bass. Give us some more presense with it. I'd say crank it's volume a bit more, and then bus a few tracks (say the kick and a ch-hihat) into the external key of a compressor. And then compress it at like a 2:1 ratio, just subtley. I just love basslines. This one needs more love.

Interesting progression. Leaves something to be desired. Feels a bit empty as others have said.

I like the synth work so far.

Just curious, what programs are you using to produce this track?
Good work so far.

If you aren't scared to steal good plug-ins (and don't feel bad, i mean I feel bad but i do it anyway) get your hands on a Waves L1+ ultramaximizer. It's pretty much used on the master fader of every track ever made (i exaggerate, but it's a great plug.)

Keep it up man, more layers, more volume and you'll be set. And also remember the plugs don't make the track. you do!

Adam

Darkness_Hero: Thanks dude. I'm not sure what genre it would fall into. Main inspirations for this were Yahel, Black & White, Airbase and DT8 (guess thats where the cheese comes into it... LoL) Consider it an experiment in merging psy and uplifting.

DJFreaq: Yeah, kick is getting beefed up with some serious bottom end. Hard for me to let go of that flat kick, but its not working. I dig basslines too. They can really be the best part of a track imho.

Synths I've used: Vanguard for most of the leads, Synth 1 for bass, Superwave P8 mainly for effects and sweeps. Excessive use of VST gate fx too.

Going to try and master this bitch down over the weekend. Been making a lot of changes to the structure and leads too but am getting close to the final mixdown. Thanks for feedback everyone.

Hey,

Just updated the link to Airburst. I acted on a lot of the previous comments, so thanks to everyone who posted previously. I think its sounding much more tech trance now but still has some very melodic and funky elements. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made on this one.

Check it out and leave your feedback.

Thanks guys =)

Hey Axo,

I can see you greatly improved mastering. I think its already much better now. Though the mid-area is still a bit weak compared to the percussion. The new techy "wah-wah" synths in the background work really well, I love them. The new layering is lightyears better. Sweet!
Maybe you should try backing your stuff up with a pad. And turn up all the mid-area stuff so that we can enjoy the cool layers of melody even more. Other than that, both mastering- and arrangement-wise, great improvements. You're on your way!

I love the lead rhythm of this tune. It's freaken catchy.

Excellent flow to the tune. The highs are still dominating; you
need more midrange. This tune is awesome & needs to be complimented with some mids & a deep/full bass.

As Cybernetica said, the mastering is excellent. I can't fault it.

I think you need ot revise the bass drum.

On the second listening I sat back & took it in. I came to the conclusion that that this track is a winner. It has got riffs that are brilliant & a progression that is very professional. All that is required are some frequencey ajustments, midrange additions & a bass drum revision & id say this is a 10/10 track.

hey axolotyl!

this genre is not really my cup of tea (so i cant say much about melodies, etc), but the production sounds clean! maybe you could add some more lows and the kick needs some more compression! sounds a bit weak, imo!

Good work on it!

OK, I just UPDATED the link with some huge mid range boost and a punchier kick and already it sounds better. Man I think my ears must have been shot after I mastered it down, becasue I listened to it and could hear exactly what you guys were referring to.

Thanks heaps... dont know what I'd do without you guys =)

Hmmm...I just listened to the latest version. Even though it is not my pound of boost, it is catchy and the melody is still playing in my head, hehe. I found it to lack energy, and it was not that interesting...but still, it was enjoyable...reminds me of a video game for some reason. Great job there, Axo! =o)

cybernetica: Thanks mate, yeah the layering is alright in this one. Mastering and mid boost on the lastet update are fixed. Give it a listen if you have the time.

Xenocreator_PG_ : Dude, thats high praise, thanks a lot.I kinda thought you would appreciate the tounge in cheek nature of the track. Kick and mids are now revised on the latest link.

Klangzentrum: Thanks for listening dude, glad you think the mastering is up to scratch.

RiCo: Yeah melody just sound plain in your face to me seeing as I've heard it a hundred times. Cool, you think its catchy... awesome. No energy? Dang... I thought there was a lot in there, a bit too much at times. Yeah, a lot of my synths sound like video games for some reason...wierd...

Sorry to be a feedback whore, but any one else want to give it a listen? I could use all the objective views I can get. Mainly because I'm trying to decide if this is a style worth exploring with future tracks.

There's way too much high freqs. Reduce the eq boosting on those synths, or cut down volume. And those synths would also benefit from some added life. Maybe a subtle phaser, or lfo swinging the filter/amp.

Good ideas though, just needs a better production.
