Good concise definition. Melody is what makes the trance sound so amaizing, and also to be so popular. I would say its the most popular from the electronic genres.. and has been for a while.

I Agree! For instance, Carl Craig has made very emotional & melodic techno music through the years.

Detroit techno in general is very well known for its melodic elements. It's just different from the hit-you-in-the-face-with-a-sledgehammer type of melodies employed by far too many recent trance tracks.

Techno is often more abstract. Trance melodies often ressemble classical melodies.

there was a time when techno had melody and trance didn't exist. there was a time when techno and trance both had melody. there wasn't a time when techno had melody and trance didn't, son. somehow i doubt you know your history much more than i do. i know ishkur knows his shit.

trance got going in 1987 and the first stuff did not have melody, techno has been around since probably 1984, it was more electro. So I agree with Ishkur, that there was a time where this happened.
