heh i've got plenty of these stories. some on air, some just mixing at home for fun and some playing out live. all are embarassing but fun memories.

- took the wrong record off once (on air)

- didn't clean off a very dusty record. cued it, mixed it (quite well actually ) then as its playing... the stylus collected so much dust that it skipped lots and sound quality went to shyte and of course the stylus just ended up skidding across the vinyl and the music went out. all the meanwhile my friend who was beatmatching (we did a versus on air) had the biggest laugh about it.

- was playing at a club and i mixed the first 2 tunes with the VCF on (xone62 mixer) and the whole time i was like... why isn't there any freakin bass!?

there's many more but i'd rather not type it all out.

mixed a record in with the bass kill activated. worked out well tho, as i caught on to this eventually, but didn't know what to do when i saw it. then, i waited for a silent breakdown, and brought the bass in. in silence, it wasn't noticeable, but when the kick came in, the people reacted nicely.

had 3 records playing at once. 1 vinyl, 1 CDJ-200, 1 CDJ-800. CDJ-800 in vinyl mode, track finishes, and the next starts. a 3 deck trainwreck sounds a lot worse, even if just 1 track is off, and specially if that one track was the one with the kick on full. this was at a house party i did, mostly all who were here were DJs, so they understood quite well without me even having to say anything.

pulled the wrong CD out at a fashion show i spun at. luckily, it was real early, show hadnt started, only like 20-30 people there. the few that even noticed completely understood when i said i was just doing a standard soundcheck.

got a bad burn on a track. i knew it completely, in and out, so it was quite my surprise when it cuts out with 3 minutes to go, and me not having brought in the next track yet. again, at my house with a couple of buds, so didn't matter.

I was spinning at a friend's house party that had no monitors so I had to do it all in headphones. First mix. Everything went perfectly. I take off the headphones and can't hear any music. A quick look to the mixer - some assclown had been playing with my mixer before I stepped on and had left the crossfader all the way to the left... thanks a lot!

i love all the disclamers. This was not a trainwreck & not my fault.

All u people must mess up at least once in a while. Push a light vinyl a little hard or what not .

Anyway yea a few times I forgot what CDJ was playing, and definately stopped the wrong one...

Sometimes ive knocked the tone arm with my hand while reaching for the pitch, or sometimes my headphone cable does that.

Sometimes I dont pay attention and definately take off the wrong record.

(none of this live) but it happends...

At a dnb gig, my first transition saw me pushing the vinyl just a BIT too hard...I slipped a couple of beats, but it wasn't that big of a deal, it just annoyed me. I hate starting out with a sloppy transition.

I decided to drop something big for the next song, to make up for it, and all was well during the layer, the breakdown came...everyone put their hands in the air...I put my hands in the air...drum roll...

...Right when the bass comes in, I slammed my hands down...directly onto the needle, which unleashed the most earth-shattering KWUUUM-SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE noise. Ruined the record, too.

The rest of my set was fine, but damn, that was ugly.

You are 100% right! I was at that party and remember this. I was on the balcony looking over the DJ booth and when I heard the music stop I looked down and saw what he did..hehehe.

Haha, mine usually consist of me being too drunk and messing around WAY to much on the decks, thinking I'm better than Sasha X10 and am doing great....yeaaaa....NO, afew beers make me better but LOTS of beer makes me a monster, but umm honestly I don't think its my fault, like everytime I get wasted, my umm decks can't hold pitch and the controls change on the mixer....NOT MY FAULT
