people seem to do this alot .. seem to think someone is a good dj because they have produced a track that has been playlisted by some big djs .. i havent heard john play but the fact that "pvd and tiesto" are fans doesnt make the slightest bit of difference if the person is djing does it?

DJ'ing wise, well ive booked him at a night i co-organised a few months back, he doesn't disappoint! Knows how to read a crowd well & whats already been said. Irish Global Gathering this year echo's sentiments to his ability!

I agree that doesn't mean much as I'm sure he means they're fans of his production work, not his DJing (assuming they havent heard him spin)
I haven't heard him DJ either but I've heard only good things, hence the excitement
This thread is the first I've seen with people actually criticising him for anything. He's one of the best young trance talents in the world as far as I can see, and he's British, and already there's people slagging him off. Its pathetic imo.
I can instantly tell a J.O'C production and instantly tell an Askew one. Yes he's definately been influenced by Askew, but there's tonnes of differences in the structure and the style of tracks.. Askew's are nearly always a break that just ends with the beat coming back and no "big riff" involed: just really driving set-building tracks. J.O'C on the other hand mostly does huge Euphoric trancers with really catchy melodies. Only an idiot would say "ooh he's just an askew wanabe" imo. Someone's trying to look cool by being controversial methinks
