you'd be suprised man. as long as you stay home you're fine.
freaking cops everywhere. on the spot urine tests at roadblocks,
clubs getting raided, undercovers at events. you're always too paranoid to enjoy yourself.

I didnt think it was 'one of the greatest movies ever' like many people say. I think this might have to do with the crappy subtitles that were on the version I saw so I may have missed a few points. Its defenitely original and messed up though(didnt they give one kid a trash can lid lol).

There were far worse weapons: Kiriyama (the guy who went amok) started with a paper fan

i love how the japanese have absolutely no line or boundaries when it comes to film as an art form...they def know how to delve into some dark, taboo material...

for some other truly bizarre, interesting and fucked up flicks, try some films by takashi miike or kiyoshi kurosawa (not to be confused with akira kurosawa, a legendary japanese filmmaker)...im a big film geek

Just seen it. Compared to the first film, it's got a somewhat different focus, and the beginning is the main problem.

The film as a whole was annoyingly influenced by the events that took place soon after Battle Royale I: The war on terrorism, the collapse of the World Trade Center and, although it does fit the chaotic social context from BR(I), the first minutes stress this way too much.

On top of that, as soon as a classroom is chosen, it's just plain weird: all the deaths you saw before the game in the first film happen almost the same way. Not to mention their teacher: he's plain annoying, and out of all characters, I guess I missed Kitano the most.

However, the film is not all that bad. Kitano's daughter (who, in real life, happens to be the older sister of the girl Kitano protected in the first film) brings the BR(I) feeling back for a while.

Also, if you happen to like politics, BR(II) might be interesting because it tries to show the war on terrorism from the terrorists' point of view. It's far from being deep, but it's food for thought nonetheless.

The reason why I still think the film was worth watching is because of the common traits in the plot (psychology and philosophy wise), and how they were developed differently.

3.5/5
