Yes, this i a really good question! Actually a fundamental one too!

I also wonder what REALLY NICE Epic/melodic trancetune are "made of"/built up. I can hear the song, but there is so many things going on in the song its REALLY hard to analyze the song!
How is the bassline going, og what is the bass made up of?
Which sounds are playing in the background to make the song so "full" and complete!?

If I only could have all the detail, I too could make a great trance song! I got the melodies, but not the skill for making it sound tight and pro!

Anyone out there who can help?
Or KNOWS HOW to get help?

bennymann if you start making stuff you will see where it's lacking and what parts you need to add stuff to etc.
It's very hard to pick a track apart at first but once you start to do it yourself with your own stuff it will get much easier.

hmm, I have tried, but I can not figure out what more to add to my songs. Im confused. I want to sound like, Armin, Thrillseekers, DT8!
Hmm, listen to my song here. I think its "ok", but its not as "full" as I want it.

For me the really euphoric trance generally consists of :

loads of musical tension in a build-up

massive release of tension using lush chords and massive amounts of high frequencies - i.e. supersaw, superstring, tonnes of reverb

Music needs contrast, which is why an uplifting chord progression on its own will not be nearly as powerful unless loads of tension has been built up beforehand.

I'm still far off from being able to nail exactly what kind of chord progressions are more uplifting but I have found that chords with upward moving elements tend to work.
