1 Euro = 1.53950 Swiss Franc
1 Swiss Franc (CHF) = 0.64956 Euro (EUR)

Median price = 1.53920 / 1.53950 (bid/ask)
Minimum price = 1.53600 / 1.53640
Maximum price = 1.54000 / 1.54030

Hail to my brother from Denmark! (No offense but see what I mean about the Euro populace's ignorance/apathy/disinterest on the EU even in their own countries?)

And what makes you think the EU is primarily a military alliance? That's a bit of farsical statement! One of the things that makes the EU so "noble" is its institutionalized pacifism.

Hee hee! Let's not go there.

Hence, why I never made it. Read my post. And what about your statement on Denmark preparing to join the Euro collaboration? Are you still hanging on to that?

Btw. thanks for calling me ignorant and disinterested. It's been a while since I last got that thrown at me in here - kinda forgot how nice it is.

Yeah, mea culpa. In Denmark we never refer to the Euro project as "the Euro". It goes by the name of the "economic monetary union", which I guess caused the confusion.

What do you mean "institutionalised pacifism"? Cos the EU has a military capability and is currently improving it

I have a feeling you also looked up the pound v. the Euro too.

Exchange rate is not everything:

quote:

Switzerland is a peaceful, prosperous, and stable modern market economy with low unemployment, a highly skilled labor force, and a per capita GDP larger than that of the big Western European economies. The Swiss in recent years have brought their economic practices largely into conformity with the EU's to enhance their international competitiveness. Switzerland remains a safe haven for investors, because it has maintained a degree of bank secrecy and has kept up the franc's long-term external value. Reflecting the anemic economic conditions of Europe, GDP growth dropped in 2001 to about 0.8%, to 0.2% in 2002, and to -0.3% in 2003, with a small rise to 1.8% in 2004. Even so, unemployment has remained at less than half the EU average.

Don't take offense, mate (and I won't take offense at your insinuation that I can't know what going on in the EU 'because I'm Canadian').

My apologies. You seemed to be indicating that Denmark didn't want to be in the EU due to its experiences in NATO. (If you didn't however make it, I'm baffled at your comparing NATO and military matters to the situation with the EU?)

BTW: Did you look at the link?

I didn't say *you* were ignorant and disinterested. "Read my post." I said the general EU populace was apathetic with regard to the EU, and therefore generally ignorant and disinterested (reference your mea culpa). I don't mean to use a negative connotation to the word, merely the "uninformed" aspect of "ignorant."

Cheers,
-Noble

Oh, everyone knows the British currency is the strongest currency in the world, I didn't need to look it up. You however don't seem to have the first clue about that of the Swiss, re:

LOL, of all the BS you wrote i find this the funniest!

Exchange rates like that doesnt mean shit if you didnt know it. There are 5 swedish kronor on a canadian dollar, does that mean that the canadian dollar is 5 times as good as the the swedish currency? Or is the euro almost twice as good as the canadian dollar?

Why do you have this anti EU constitution obsession btw, you dont seem to know a lot

FYI:

Countries in the EU
Belgium
France
Germany
Italy
Luxembourg
The Netherlands
Denmark
Ireland
the United Kingdom
Greece
Portugal
Spain
Austria
Finland
Sweden
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Estonia
Hungary
Latvia
Lithuania
Malta
Poland
Slovakia
Slovenia

Members of stage 3 EMU (they use the euro as their currency)
Belgium
France
Germany
Italy
Luxembourg
The Netherlands
Ireland
Greece
Portugal
Spain
Austria
Finland

Members of the EEC (Im not sure this is the name in english tho?)
Norway
Iceland
Lichtenstein

Switzzerland (im pretty sure) is not a member of EEC, but ratifies every new treaty by itself. They are part of the free trade agreements (rome treaty) and just passed the schengen treaty tho!

Yes, very interesting:

First Danish Euro Coin Designs

Denmark & The Euro
We believe that Denmark will eventually join the Euro, along with about a dozen other countries. Although the Danish National Bank produced a set of images for possible Danish euro coins, it is not known whether any official plans have been made to turn these designs into the real thing, or even into a pattern for a set.

Because Denmark does not want to take part in the Euro (EMU) and it also does not want to take part in EU military operations (as, like the UK, Denmark believes NATO should remain the primary security actor in Europe. Denmark also has reservations over an EU with a military capacity as it believes the EU should be a civilian power)
