Liquid Todd is probably the worst show-name I've heard... |
When I saw him with Oakey and Sandra in April, he actually managed to throw down an incredible set.
Oakey, however... I tried to enjoy his set and not worry about the shit too much, but it just wouldn't stop bugging me. I'll just past my review from the NWTA section.

... doesn't fucking try anymore. Nou, you didn't miss much. His transitions were shit, the tracks weren't well beatmatched nor queued correctly and he tended to do quick fades. He also forgot what an EQ is for a few transitions.
Half the time he just stood there watching the crowd dance. He did his weird "touch my penis!" pose a few times, which in all honesty looks really, really ghey. If he wasn't sitting on the table, he was hidden behind some monitors or occasionally clapping and doing an "I'm Jesus!" pose. He left the booth three times. Once, he came up to the edge of the stage and reached for peoples hands but pulled it away emotionally. The second, he walked up to a lady in a wheel chair right in front and talked to her [which actually gave him a ton of respect points]. The third time really pissed me off...
He powered down a record, and as soon as it was down, he fades in none other than PPfuckingK - Resurrection. He lets it play, and goes off to the side of the stage, sits on his ass, and chats with some guy. He lets the entire track play out to the end of the vinyl. No mixing, no nothing.
For the most part, he didn't spend too much time with his headphones on. I wouldn't see him again if you paid me too (unless, by some freak force of nature, he improves). |
The rest of the night (aside from Sandra) with two other locals kicked a ton of ass, so it ended up being money well-spent. I have heard, like the rest of the people have said, that the Orange Hours set kicks ass, so I dunno if he's improved at all or not.

Ya know, it seems to me that when reading reviews it also depends on where the dj is playing. I dunno, I could be wrong. But maybe they feel that if they are playing somewhere like NYC, Miami, or any other major cities they have to step it up a notch because the crowd will be more demanding.

I would not pay 40 dollars to see Oakenfold at this point in his career. I recommend spending your 40 dollars elsewhere. Be sure to update this, telling us what you did.
