i didnt. I blamed the city, developer and the owner. I vindicated the golf course. Their only crime was being a golf course.

I'd set up a driving range and make their house the 250 yard mark

I saw this story on the news a couple days ago...they make it look like these poor people are victims of a terrible injustice.
Its the classic David vs Goliath battle.

I totally agree that only a complete tool would buy a home that borders a golf course........BUT unfortunatly it is the responsibility of the golf course to keep the balls on its own property. Thats why the court ruled in favour of the idiot homeowners. Judges arent supposed to look at the stupidity factor, they look at who's breaking a law.

I think its damn funny that these people are so proud of winning their legal battle when all they really did is lose thousands of dollars to lawyers.

Thats the problem. The court sees it as keeping balls on the property which is completely unrealistic. I see it froma more common sense way. You live next to a golf course, expect golfers to make noise and expect gold balls to come onto your property. But thats the sad part about canada. People expect to be able to plop down where ever they feel like and have everyone else around them suddenly cater to them. Most of the time it has to do with noise and sounds but this golf ball thing is along the same path as well. I think most people who complain like this should be forced to live up north with the nearest neighbour being 10 km away. Then maybe they will get the non-interference from other people living their lives and they will be happy. Im looking in the toronto islanders direction especially when i make this comment.

I will mention again. I bet i'd have the legal right if i wanted to to have the pub downstairs stop its music on thursday nights because this is Canada. However in being realistic, i chose to live over a pub and thats the kind of sounds pubs make (hopefully). So to complain about the noise (which i got used to after a few weeks anyways) would have been completely immoral.

I hope the next people who move in here are the same way. Something tells me they wont be. Its usually middle aged women that are the biggest whiners and there is one moving in here with her daughter... Look out pub!!! LOL
