ok... here we go...
first off id like to point out that i have never driven back and forth from Guelph to Toronto so many times in the last 2 days lol...5 times to be exact! That was really tiring
A lot of work, effort, heart and passion went into planning and organizing this event. I really wouldnt have been able to do it without the help of two very important teammates, Tim and Matt. Laurent told me that this was his first time to Canada that EVERYTHING went as it should have. He was very excited to come and experience the scene here in Toronto for the first time, and will return whenever we want him back!
Got there around 10pm (as awishabear mentioned) to meet up with Jason so we could all get eveything set up and organized. As 11pm came closer and closer, i was getting more anxious to get things rolling...so anxious i started to get a bit of a stomach ache...I was so stressed (even though i probably shouldn't have been). I wanted to make sure everything went as planned and everyone enjoyed themselves!
Finally i got to start the tunes off a lil bit after 11pm...it was definately a new experience for me playing at a place like Viva, and also very enjoyable. Though adapting to the environment in the booth compared to places like the Vault, or a house party was very difficult, i managed to slowly get the hang of it and get into a groove.
before i knew it, i was done and Tim took over...i went up to meet everyone and say hi...met a few new faces...dnmr (you were totally wasted), Pettiscool (you were even more wasted!!), Sunquest (so glad i finally got to meet you in person!!), Orko (awesome guy, thanks for comin out!), Tully & samhouse (true FRC members!), Avrey (forget your TA name! but i know i met you)...
to everyone else there: Alicia, Barry, Tyler, Cale, Dan, Rob, Andrea, Dennis, Lindsey, Lisa, Mike, Martin (thanks for letting me spin Language), Rob, Keika, Justin (and your 2 lady friends), Jason, Fahad (really glad to see you made it out), Rad, Alex, Lowell & Evi, Mike & Jenna, Carl, Shane, Warren & Heather (thanks for making it out, even if it was just for a little bit!)...and anyone else i missed...let me know if i did miss you, i will add you to the list!
really really impressed with the turnout...i danced for a bit, but most of the time, all i could do was just stand in the DJ booth and take in every moment of what was going on...mission accomplished sucessfully! Laurent told me that it was by far the best set he has done in a long time, and every moment of the night was very special for him.
Today, Matt and I took Laurent to do a formal meeting with the Viva club owner. On the way to meet him we had to make an important stop at a restaurant on Hwy 7: the Fire & Ice. Laurent certainly got a kick out of that! And i took a few pics for him to show his buddies and DJ Fire back home (for those of you who don't know, Fire & Ice is one of Laurent's biggest music aliases next to Airwave, partnered with DJ Fire.

After the meeting with Viva's owner, we went to Yorkdale mall where the infamous Apple Computer Store is located. lol Laurent was like a 'kid in a candy shop' checking out literally EVERYTHING the store had to offer, he ended up getting a new ipod mini and an ipod shuffle to add to his studio set up back home in Brussels. The trip to that computer store was literally the 'icing on the cake' for him. Afterwards we went to the Airport gave our final goodbyes to Laurent, and headed home.
This has certainly been one hell of a weekend, and i am particularly glad to know i dont have to work Sunday
i hope to see you all at Cor Fijneman & DJ Montana on July 15th!
Aaron
