Why is Tiesto not so good as a DJ? As you said he has unique style of production and he makes amazing remixes. What else does a DJ need to be a good DJ?

well it is widely known to anyone that has ever met Tiesto that he is the biggest Asshole to ever spin a record . I really like his remixes and love his latest production. However, i dont think he deserves to be the number one DJ for sure. And can think on top of my head of at least 7 DJ that are better than him. I have been to my share of parties, with top notch DJs. Tiesto ranked among the worse in my humble opinion in terms of "moving the crowd" at least. And that alone in my opinion is one of the most important things for a real DJ!

I'd rank Markus, DeepDish, AvB, PvD as the top DJ in terms of giving the crowd what they want!

Agreed...which I took into account after the fact. I never would have, but I was in the moment, and also figured that since it was one of HIS records, he wouldn't mind a simple request, especially since DJs tend to put their own productions into their sets to begin with. I realized later, he likely did not appreciate me asking him to play something, and as a DJ, I understand...you play records that YOU want the crowd to hear, not what they're requesting (though you do have to have the ability to know what they will like).

...but, it's also INCREDIBLY rude to treat somebody elses record like he did to mine. I went out and paid my hard earned money to support him, not only by seeing his show, but also by purchasing his music. Additionally, it was a limited edition, coloured vinyl from the Just Be 4-pack. I don't care who you are or why you're irritated, but you do NOT do that to somebody elses music, ESPECIALLY vinyl, ESPECIALLY limited edition, and ESPECIALLY when that person has made a point of supporting you in more ways than one!

I don't say DJ Tiesto sucks because I think it's cool to do so. I like some of his productions, but I honestly think that DJ Tiesto is shit when it comes to DJing. I don't get why people say he takes you on such a 'Magikal Journey' ...Paul Van Dyk does a way better job of that than I've EVER seen or heard Tiesto do, either when seeing him live, watching his DVD, or hearing a set from the net. His mixing skills suck, and he does not deserve to be #1 DJ in the world. He did not get the crowd moving, he did not build the music like a good DJ should, and he most definitely did not take me on ANY kind of a magikal journey...DJ Tiesto sucks, plain and simple.

Just my opinion...

Paul Van Dyk does a better job than Tiesto? Are you serious? I think that Paul Van Dyk is the DJ who does not deserve to be #2. I've been 3 times on his shows during the last 3 month; and I can say that compare to Tiesto or even Ferry Corsten, this German is a way below (in my opinion). But what I most do not like about Paul Van Dyk is his fucked up attitude toward the crowd and other DJ's.

I've only seen the guy once, and it was the best show I've ever been to. I was completely sober, but felt as high as I possibly could have been.

I will grant you that he does tend to make minor mistakes in his sets, as all DJs do, but he's great when it comes to quickly fixing these mistakes (such as re-matching the beats, etc).

I have heard from a friend of mine that he met Paul Van Dyk, and that PVD was a complete cock. I can't give a similar experience, because I did not actually meet him. But when Tiesto came to Seattle, he had his fucking girlfriend go out and round up all of the things for him to sign...no personal connection with the crowd. Paul Van Dyk was at LEAST cool enough to do it himself, and did not appear to be a dick about it.

I was at Tiesto's show in Seattle but I don't really remember his girlfriend running around and picking up things for him to sign (probably I just did not pay too much attention). What I remember for sure that almost all my friends got their stuff signed by Tiesto after the show. One of my friends even took his t-shirt off and threw it to Tiesto to sign; and Tiesto actually signed this t-shirt and threw it back.
And I think that it is not cool enough for Paul Van Dyk just sign few autographs and leave the place. There were not so many people in the club who wanted to get a signature from Paul Van Dyk; it probably would take him about 20-25 minutes to sign the stuff for everyone who wanted it. People paid $40 to see this DJ and he could not spend with them extra 20-25 minutes? I can understand that when there is a huge concert with thousands of people; in that case, it is just physically impossible to satisfy all the funs by signing their stuff. But when there are only 30-40 people trying to get a signature from a DJ and he only signs for few of them...this DJ is a real dick...

The rudest DJ i have ever met is Tiesto, the nicest is a close call between the DeepDish folks and AvB. They make thier fans feel like they knew em for hundreds of years. I remember spending about 15 minutes just chatting like old friends with AvB at a party in Egypt, couple of weeks ago. DeepDish are equally cool too, and really respect their fans.

I have never met AvB or DeepDish fellas and I can't say how nice they are to their fans; but to say that Tiesto is the rudest DJ is just ridiculous...

This is exactly the impression I got from Tiesto. I can't speak for PvD, as again, I never met him...

Nicest DJs I ever met were Marco V and Ferry Corsten. I wasn't even VIP, but I got to chill with Marco V for about 5 minutes backstage before his set...he signed my records before going on stage, then also chatted with me after his set and sent me away with 8 Marco V bumper stickers. Where the hell are you going to get those other than from the man himself? At least out of Europe, they're rare...

Ferry Corsten was equally cool. Just a quick chat with him after his set, but he still actually made a connection with his fans and gave them the time of day to chat rather than sign their stuff and get out of there...same with Marco V

2 cool DJs that I had much respect for, and now even moreso since I know they aren't arrogant pricks

My bad...

The most rude and arrogant DJ I have met, so far, was Paul Van Dyk.
