I may be the first to say but i personally thought the movie was terrible. Spielbergs worst film IMO.
There was action, yes, but there was no real story behind it. I was very disappointed.
are you saying that the acclaimed novelist from the 1800's-1900's H.G. Wells can't write a good novel and that his books have no story/plot???

All of this is dreadful news to me. I really wanted to see this movie, because I read the book. The thing I'm hearing the most is "The movie was absolutely awesome, nearly perfect and beautiful, but the ending SUCKED."
I hate it when a great movie has a horrible ending. What's the point of making the whole movie if you're gonna ruin it with a half-assed ending.

...known from a videotape the two made when they met in March... in Dresdens home, Dresden amputated Gabriels penis and Dresden and Gabriel ate the penis together...Gabriel had insisted that Dresden bite his penis off; this did not work.. Dresden used a knife. When that knife turned out to be too blunt, Dresden used a sharper knife to slice the penis off. Gabriel apparently tried to eat his share of his own penis..but could not because it was too..."chewy". Dresden then sautéed the penis in a pan with salt, pepper, and garlic.

i loved the movie. im going to see it again. i hate when people listen to others opinions about movies and dont go see it and judge it based on their liking. pisses the fuck out of me. and good luck watching the movie on 17 inches of monitor with 640x320 resolution. unless you find a rip from the studio or something. tom cruise did a great job acting.

Ok, there are too many people to quote for this response. But for everyone who's already written, the movie wasn't supposed to be based on H.G Wells' book. It was a remake of the classic War of the Worlds movie from like the fifties, which in turn, was an adaptation of Orson Welles' radio program. Welles took the basic idea of Wells' book, but completely turned it around on itself. For instance, the scientific analysis presented at points in the book was of no interest to Welles, who instead decided to focus on the human interest stories, etc, as well as more mass-confusion as to what the things were/why they were here/how many there were/etc.

Oh, and I thought it was very good, though fell apart if you poked too hard at it. Most notably, where did the news van come from, and why was it in working condition, as well as how was their van spared the destruction outside?
