i've got nothing against dj's remixing pop tunes. look at what james holden did with a britney spears track...it was great. and leama & moor did a fair job with the avril lavigne track...i'll probably listen to it like everything else and then make my opinions from there...

same here too...

I dislike most commercial artists not for their singing, but for their music. The two mentioned above are perfect examples of how good singers really do provide good vocals.

maybe its even SOOooo good (as in-not a commercial shit), that the label rejects it and it ends up being a bootleg

It's happened before, sure could happen again.

exactly. it's not about who they remix, it's about what they make it into. I have absolutely no problem with my favorite DJs remixing commercial artists as long as the end product is good, and if it's a DJ I like it usually is. that Avril mix was *GENIUS*. they completely transformed the song into a gorgeous track and I absolutely loved it. Gabriel & Dresden turned Jewel's tracks into club classics, and their mix of "Me Against The Music" was just as good. it doesn't matter if it's commercial - it matters if it's good.

It will be very interesting to see how this turns out, persoannly I have only heard one remix of briney spears and that was above and beyonds rework of everytime, and that for me was a wicked track. Then again it had almost no vocals in it, and was melodically superb so it worked.

I think the pottential problem with pop tunes is the vocals them selves. While they may be sung very well indeed, they can still sound commercial due to the very nature of what there singing about. And sadly sometimes no amount of genius can save pop. BT's collab with N sync or whatever, WTF?!!!

But like I say I'll be very interested to hear this tune.

Yeah, "I'm with you" was beautifully remixed.
