Trance scene in US?
Hi, Neph here, just wanted to respond to origional poster's question..
Yes, there are parts of the US of A that do have active trance scenes, with actual people that actually appreciate and spin 'trance' records. Whatever those are. The San Francisco (soon to be officially the San Jose..) Bay Area has had a flourishing trance scene since the beginning.. Plenty of record shops like Skills & Spundae carry all the latest and greatest. It's because of the people I assume. The Bay is a cultural mecca, its hard to think of a creed, culture, or style that isn't represented here.
From what I understand, the scene is still active in LA as well, although not to as much a degree. Someone from down south can confirm or deny this for me..
Hell, I myself have been distancing myself from what I though of as 'trance' a few years ago.. It's not so much that i don't appreciate it anymore, more-so that I just would like to diversify my record collection. I really like avenues artists such as Technasia, Mauro Picotto, Dave Clarke, Dj Hell, Johannes Heil, & Chris Liebing has moved towards in rescent years. Its a breath of fresh air, when compared to the staleness i get from listening to the latest 'trance' releases (as indicated by the on-line record shops buttons)
Live free, or don't; it's entirely up to you.
Neph, el Brujo
