but the shows that really got me hooked was the Nov 2002 show at Roxy

Actually Alyssa, you are right. It was the NOV '02 set that got me going. SInce then I've been a PVD whore. Those 6 hr ROXY sets wer mind-blowing. Global was the first PVD CD I bought. After I heard it, The next day I went and bought Out There and Back & The Politics of Dancing. P.O.D. is still one of my favorite albums!!

I didn't have any expectations. I've always been heavy to every scene. I dig all sorts of music. Probably hip-hop the most now. It usually changes. I go itno grooves where all I'll listen to is punk or something. In anycase, going to clubs isn't as fun as it used to be. I think it's just that we're older now...

I hadn't really formed an opinion at that point. I guess the only thing I really knew about clubs before I started clubbing was from what I saw in movies - which I didn't think to consider as real life.

Aside from the counterculture oasis of Peter Gatien's Limelight and the Mark Vincent (aka Vin Diesel) bounced Tunnel in NYC, clubs didn't seem as popular because they didn't fully cater to the EDM crowd until about the mid 90's. Raves ruled the East Coast for quite some time before proper clubs were really established as places to get your "techno" fix. LOL.

The East Coast rave scene was primarily influenced by Catastrophic (Washington, DC - via Univ. of Md.) which then spread to include the Storm parties in NY.
