I got the micron and its the nuts. Its awesome how this thing sounds like my dads old jupiter and stuff and the sound it belts out is crazy.

Best investment i ever made.Alotta people say the ion but in reality if u dont mind using menu's instead of too mnay knobs the micron has more to offer.

Hardware will never be replaced its that simple.Computers will get more powerfull for sure but if you mean to tell me that when i go to a gig im gonna depend on my computer lmao.

Computers crash Hardware could but your pc is more likely and i wouldnt want that happening at a gig.

Plus the feel of the real thing in front of me without the hassle of having to assighn knobs makes me confident. And for right now altho many of you dont agree software synths are in no way better sounding than hardware.

i purchased my first piece of hardware and i was skeptical and now i see the diffrence.

Altho u could make software sound good its too time consuming for the amout of cash they want you to dish out for it.

Im hardware all tghe way tho i think the pc is best for sequencing and track arranging. And software fx are right up there as well.

All you truly need now a days is

A good computer
Mixer
Monitors
Software
Hardware synth or two
Controller

and you have a good setup for a home based studio

i have
a semi ok pc
a alesis micron
a Oxygen 8 Midi Controller
and Software

I already have my dream synths.

Yamaha DX7II for the killer basses.
Access Virus B - overall the sickest
JP8080 - For smooth pads/strings, and phat leads
Micro-Q - actually im going to sell this one

But look what fully analog synths dont supply

Memory (if any little)older analog anyway

Crisp clear clean sound
(alotta times sound muffled old synth)

Upgrades via internet

computer linkage (ability to use as midi controller)

My micron can sound like almost any analog synth out there it may not be 100% but it gives me what i need.

I dont need patches as for the most part they are in my head.... Soo the ability to have 1000 preset though nice is uneeded.... As for a controler i never turn on my vintage gear until I know that it was my track will need... First i track my guitar etc... And AU synths... Then if it really needs a synth lead i turn on the gear..

I guess it all comes down to preference... While all these VA's are nice its not what i choose to use, i can afford to use the vintage stuff and i will.... No synth is better than another its all preference.... Someone mentioned the waldorf XT which i cant stand because the osc alias like hell but some people like it...
