No.

And what are you talking about with exactly the same with "updated" equipment? If you made it exactly the same with the exact same sounds it would sound EXACTLY THE SAME AS IN 1990. It doesn't sound dated to you because the technology of sound has advanced light years since then, it sounds dated to you because it lacks overproduction in the form of sweeping strings...wash effects...note changes..., and to you anything that doesn't have this is "dated".

Sounds don't become dated or old or obsolete. They only wax and wane in usage and fanbase. The problem isn't the music, it's you. The TB-303 was used extensively in 1987, and it will still be used 20 years later whether you have heard of the artist or not. There's nothing wrong with or old about the sound it makes. It's just a gimmick idea most producers used to fool idiots into thinking their music is better because it's newer.

I would like to see a proper remix made of Airwave - When Things Go Wrong. not that bs 2003 remix...but something that added new elements to it...while retaining the basic structure of the track

Unhappy What a shame....

It's ashame how many people butcher the word 'remix'. A remix is actually going back to the multi-track and working from there. Some examples are:
1)Cerrone - Je Suis Music as opposed to Cerrone - Je Suis Music
(Armand Van Helden remix).
2)Kobbe & Austin Leeds - Fusing Love and then Kobbe & Austin Leeds - Fusing Love (Leeds & Schulz mix).
The purpose of a remix is to improve on the original. In fact most of us would not be able to perform a true remix of a song unless we had connections with the original artist to consent/commission or allow for us to have the mutli-track and remix from the studio.

Sure you would. You have probably heard the 2002 remixes of it? I've only heard the "Vengeance Remix", it's pretty good, but no match for the original.

Best remake I've heard is Gollum & Gary D. feat. DJ Yanny - Black Arrows Reloaded [Gary D. Hardbass Mix] So great, it sounds so evil. Almost better than the original.

As for tracks to be remixed: Dyno - Galaxi would be interesting. Has anybody ever heard this? Seems that I'm the only one mentioning it.

If ever there was a track crying out for a remix that doesn't make it sound so horrifically dated, this is it.

And Radagast, despite your "retro is pure" attitude, stuff from 1991 does tend to have poor production that will only keep on getting worse. The 909 may stay in use, but people know how to get meatier kicks out of it these days. Older trance tends to lack the bass it needs to be mixed with anything not from its time. Add painful percussion and a spartan sound drawn from nothing but the technological limitations of the time and you have a result that an update can add a bit of longevity to an idea. Because adding sound washes and sweeping strings isn't remaking it straight up- it's adding lots of new shit to it.

No.

The production quality is better these days.

back in the 80s most the samplers were in mono and at 11khz. These days they are in stereo and the sample rates are 44.1khz +.

therefore the sound quality of the overall production would be more punchy and full.
