Ground_0 check out the granville strip i guess, nice bars there. robson street has lots of restaurants too, but is quite a ways from plush. actually, everything is rather far from plush heh
if you want some good beer, go to the irish heather, its in gastown, near water street. they have a nice selection of beer, some food too, but im not sure how much i would trust pub food 
about the meetup, cant be sure the upstairs will be open, would be nice if it was. maybe arpy can say something about that

. The food there is actually pretty good (they are dubbed a gastropub). The last time I went, I had the steak pah, which was very very tastaay.
