Perhaps I've not been a good thing around here...

When I said cheese, I was refering to the melody conventions that I heard in the tracks previewed on DJ Dean's website... the A-B-C down the Robert Miles scale in minor key kinda cheese that most of us here really like. What would trance be without it...

I just realized how different Hard Trance is to Hardstyle... I'm sorry for bringing it up... Like I've said, I still consider myself a noob to trance despite my brief years of knowing about it because I don't get out much.

Blah blah blah. Everyone has bitched and moaned about how they do or dont like the stuff, but no one has given him anything that hes looking for.

This thread has a couple good lists in it:

Also, if youre looking for information on something specific, the search button rocks.

Yup, hardstyle is killer if mixed by the right DJ. Thing with hardstyle is that the bassline carries the tune almost singlehandedly. If a producer deviates from this protocol it basically becomes hard trance. Unfortunately there aren't many good hardstyle DJ's.
Dj Dean's stuff is primarily hardcheese-style. His sets rarely have any decent tunes of late.

It doesn't claim to be. However, hardstyle seems pretty fucking pretentious for being such a shit form of music.

Thanks Angela, I really tending to stay away from bad hardstyle productions because im tring to find top Hardstyle lists with the best in the genre. Also just to make a statment, Dj Dean is not a Hardstyle Dj I was just pointing out that he was a gateway for me because hes sort of in the middle of trance and Hardcore sh*t.

i wouldn't really call any form of hard dance pretentious, since it seldom claims to be anything more than something for energetic clubbers to headbang to.. and that's exactly what it is

only real hardstyle i've i've listened to was the megamix & dana vs luna set in sensation black this year. wouldn't call it bassline-driven at all, sounded purely driven by overamped kickdrums

i've also heard some yoji stuff but tbh that sounds more like hardtrance to me
